Google To Start Selling Banner Advertising

Google Jumps into Banner Advertising

Google has decided to sell banner advertising on other companies' Web sites. It is a departure from the text-only advertising that it made famous -- not to mention, immensely profitable.

The new initiative is part of Google's AdSense program, which sells ads that appear on other Web sites. Like its search technology and paid-inclusion ads, AdSense is based on a tech platform that determines which ad is most relevant to the content a user is viewing.

Its a good move only because they are putting banners on other peoples sites

I dont see what the big deal is.. if the graphic ads dont get clicked enough people won't use em.

Not sure if they'll pay CPC or CPM to the AdSense affiliates, but banners are good for branding.

It's a great move. You don't have to use them if you don't want to.
