Uhm.... who's going to whom for help?

WarChild 05-13-2004 02:05 PM

The United States is by far the largest single contributer of both millitary power AND money to the United Nations.

I remember reading somewhere that the US contributes up to 40% of the the entire UN budget. I don't know what the exact number is though.

nice repeating, but how about being more precise...

After all, the inspectors WERE in Iraq till the US invasion... And Saddam offered to even let US inspectors in. And we know why now: he had no fucking WMD !!!!

Now, enforce resolutions: INVADE ISRAEL>

Hummm.. NO, UN inspertors said he got no WMD.

jayeff 05-13-2004 02:49 PM

I sincerely hope that the UN will say no. The US created this mess by itself and should sort it out by itself. The UN was opposed to the invasion of Iraq and it should not now become an accomplice to what is happening there.

UNSCR 1194 - September 9, 1998

"Condemns the decision by Iraq of 5 August 1998 to suspend cooperation with" UN and IAEA inspectors, which constitutes "a totally unacceptable contravention" of its obligations under UNSCR 687, 707, 715, 1060, 1115, and 1154.

Iraq must cooperate fully with UN and IAEA weapons inspectors, and allow immediate, unconditional and unrestricted access.

UNSCR 1205 - November 5, 1998

"Condemns the decision by Iraq of 31 October 1998 to cease cooperation" with UN inspectors as "a flagrant violation" of UNSCR 687 and other resolutions.

Iraq must provide "immediate, complete and unconditional cooperation" with UN and IAEA inspectors.

I think it was 30%.
All EU countries combined are a bigger contributor.

I'll take your word for it. I don't have the actual numbers anywhere. Just read it somewhere.

They did.

look carefully at the date : 1998

In case you cannot evaluate, that is over 5 years BEFORE the invasion.
The UN inspectors were kicked out of Iraq because of US spying...

Nothing surprising. Do you think the US didn't get military info with the latest inspection... CIA was in Iraq in force 5 monhs before the invasion...
