Has Spyware destroyed online commerce?

Every single person I know has been fucked by this crap in the last 6-8 months. Their computers are virtually unusable unless/until someone like me goes over and fixes it for them. Forget viruses, they're nothing compared to this stuff. When is this going to be made illegal? Fuckers are legally allowed to destroy someone's property (computer) that they rely on. Forget SPAM laws - Spyware is killing online commerce.

I think Spyware is responsible for a 50% loss of income I suffered inexplicably last summer. Have you thought about how many computers are either totally fried, useless to surf the web, couldn't buy anything if you tried?

Juicy D. Links 05-13-2004 09:09 AM

I had to fix my cousins laptop few weeks ago.

If you would have seen the spyware on it you would have just formatted c or bought a new machine lolll

I've done 5 computers in the last 2 months

Za Ha 05-13-2004 09:12 AM

Ive fixed bout 3 comps in the last few months

m00d 05-13-2004 09:15 AM

I really believe the numbers of people affected is probably something like 90%. What do people who don't have a geeky cousin do? Do you think they can afford to pay someone $250 to fix it? No, they just turn the computer off becuase it's junk to them. I really believe that this is affecting all online commerce in a huge way.

Why is the government allowing this? Has the law just not caugh tup with the times? Surely this won't be allowed to continue legally...

Juicy D. Links 05-13-2004 09:18 AM

the shit on his laptop was ridiculous......

I bet you that a good chunk of noob surfers are infected.

I am sure it affects biz to some extent

Cyborg 2.0 05-13-2004 09:18 AM

its a tax on not knowing how to use a computer!

yeah and that is just one side of a multi-edged blade. what about the people who can't even surf the web because of popups and port-fuckers/reboots? By some miracle if they can actually surf the web, do you think they can successfully maneuver a transaction without it being redirected or stolen from you?

You know who our buyers are - the noobs, the unsavvy.

doober 05-13-2004 09:29 AM

5 pcs this month alone i had to fix...
I guarantee it affects sales

:(

riosluts 05-13-2004 09:30 AM

yeah I think it will. Some businesses couldnt do any business because someone got infected by a worm or spyware and the store had to close for that day. it happened to a few places that i know.

I used to have "Live Person" on my other mainstream site.

You would be surprised as to how mnay of these people were such idiots it was shocking. I have a short temper in general and had to have someone lese attend to it

m00d 05-13-2004 09:40 AM

You know when you think about all the obstacles that we overcome to make a sale, it's a miracle we make any sales.

Spyware - Processor scrubbing - Shaving

Just seeing those three word raises my blood pressure...

Yeah spyware sucks. I'd like to see the same penalties for viruses.. or even worse applied to spyware. I think we should just stop calling it spyware and call it a virus.

Mike AI 05-13-2004 09:51 AM

Look around there are lots of people here who are responsible.

:1orglaugh

Spyware and the like is destroying the internet as we know it.

hydro 05-14-2004 03:58 AM

almost all spyware redirects sales from the real pages to an affiliate link which belongs to the person who created the spyware

What a fucking clown. The fact that anyone takes this douchebag seriously because he talks big is laughable. Keep infecting people with your scumware shit 12dicks, you're a hero.

Babel 05-14-2004 05:25 AM

it's good for the economy, when people can't use their compityers anymore, they buy another one

Babel 05-14-2004 05:26 AM

Seriously, it's like ym aunt, i had just cleaned her machine and the first thing she installed? That stupid monkey helper whatever (Gator?) to get popps and redirects

i never did anything - i know how to secure myself! :)

RicardoB 05-14-2004 05:51 AM

Then why not do something about it.

There are great free proggies people can use to block it.

Firewalls (Zonelabs)
Anti Virus Programs(Free AV)
Spyware blockers(Spyware blaster)
Spyware removers(Adaware)

All free and realy easy to use.

We all have websites and get plenty of people going through there.

Point them to it so they won't get spyware and get rid of what they allready got.

Seems to me that talking and complaining about it does not help. Action does.

Either do something about it or accept it. Complaining achieves nothing.

xxxdesign-net 05-14-2004 10:35 AM

Made a thread about this yesterday... ALOT of thumb TGPs... will redirect you to other thumb TGPs that will install all sort of spyware on your computer... Is it that hard NOT to trade with those sites..!??. and as for the sites themselves.. I would surely like to know who are the fucking scumbags running those...

I have runwin32.exe on my computer.. and looks like I'll need to play in the registry to get rid of it... :feels-hot

Toolbar programs make me wet in the trousers. The money's right. I figure they're making good cash if they can afford to pay me so much for my traffic. $66/K? Please, like I'm actually gonna send that traffic anywhere else???

I think I'm gonna hahahahaha my own.
