This show's voting system is total bullshit.

That girl LaToya that got booted tonight was a fabulous singer and clearly had way more talent then the rest of the contestents.

This is the 2nd time a deserving black contestent got short changed cause of a majority white audience. Racism is alive and well apparently in America.

The final few were a joke. That 16 year old kid had a terrrible voice and hung in for the longest time because it was more of a popularity as opposed to talent contest.

I think the 2 best contestants were Fantasia and LaToya!

America is allowed to vote and when it does, peope want to change the voting...can't have it both ways....either allow them to vote and let that be the final word or don't let them vote...

I think that both white and black people own phones and can vote. Yes I think she should have stayed. Jasmine should have left but I think she got the sympathy vote.

Actually, according to statistics, more black households watch Idol than white. And as mentioned earlier, last time I checked Ruben is black.

Latoya should of stayed, she has an amazing voice.

I dont think LaToya did that well last night.. she was not the worst.. I think Jasmine should have got the axe.. but I didn't vote.... so I guess I cant complain.

um.. weren't 4 out of 5 of the finalists non-white? How can it be racism? Diana DeGarmo looks like she's got a little something else in her too.
Personally I find Latoya boring.. well.. not boring but not particularly exciting - she has picked up in the last few shows and she's growing on me after that streisand number last week, but I like Fantasia a hell of a lot more.


I must remember not to click on these threads, I forgot how late in the week it was and you've just had your show... thats twice i've known who gets kicked out beforehand.

Actually, I think the figure is that a higher PERCENTAGE of black households watch (and it frightens me that I even care to know this, but oh well).

But the only way racism could truly play a role would be if we were voting someone OFF. I think it simply boils down to the fact that the majority of voters are white teeny-boppers who can relate better to pretty pretty princess Diana and crybaby Jasmine than to a mature, self-confident WOMAN like LaToya or a quirky gal like Fantasia.

Hell, I'm white as the driven snow, and my fantasy final four was George, Jennifer, LaToya and Fantasia. But, I really don't care enough to vote. I figure the cream will rise to the top one way or another, and if the evil that is 19 Entertainment doesn't get a real talent like LaToya, all the better for her. At this point I almost hope my fave, Fantasia, goes next week. Let the puppetmasters have their plastic doll.

Criminy, look what they've done to their "winner", Ruben. And as far as I can tell, even first season's 3rd place Tamyra is doing better for herself than 19 is doing for Kelly.

AI is probably a good place for true talent to get some exposure, but a lousy place for the so-called winner to launch a career.

And I care about this way more than I want to. Off to shoot myself now...

They really need to limit it to x number of votes per number, or something. Or make make it so the three judges and America vote - America=1 vote, or something. Hell, I hope they don't change it. I could use an excuse to scratch this show off my list. I need a life, anyway.

True, but she was boring. Watching the other contestants cope with their panic attacks is far more interesting.

I do watch the first couple of weeks with the aweful tryouts. the middle section of the show is a waste of time.
