Really need HELP - buying DVcamera - PAL/NTSC-question!
Hi Guys!
I have a friend thats visiting Honk Kong right now and he has promised to pick up a dvcamera for me(as they are like half the price). The thing is, Hong Kong seem to use NTSC and PAl-I, and PAL B/G is used where I live. Would it be a good idea to buy one anyways and then pick up a converter? Anyone with experience? Please advice....:( |
i'd get the ntsc like they use in the states

A decent coinverter ( TenLab Pro 1000 ) will cost about 1300.00 $US....
So no saving there. And it doesn't have dv in, only component, s-vhs and composite.... Unless you find one that has all PAL systems. |
If your going to produce material for others or outsource much I would stick with NTSC.

sounds like you'r in a SECAM Country ..
Changing the Voltage intake to a Pal Camera dosn't make it SECAM .. nor will it make it NTSC .. these are the Line and Scanning rates .. NTSC is 525 Line while pal and secam is 625 .. you'll need a transcoder if your gonna change the Formats. You're best bet would be to buy a camera logally and forget about saving a few bucks .. Keep in mond that by buying locally you also get the Guarentee which will come in handy |
