Cell Phone Spam? WTF?

the past few weeks i have been getting text messages on my cell phone with viagra url's and other url spams. i have never used text messaging on my phone. is there a way to turn text messaging off? the shit is annoying as hell. the spammers took annoying to a new level.

apperently this has been a big thing in japan for a year or so. people are gonna get pissed because those text messages aren't free in msot cases.

begs the question though, how do you think that converts?

It was an issue in finland a few years back, now SMS spam is illegal.

I don't think that kind of sms messaging converts.. it's not authorized and in the most of the times you haven't agreed with nobody to receive them.

yeah , that's a fucked up shit with sms spam. I guess still most of countries find it legal

Considering that 90% of the cell phone market is flooded by teens and underage teens, I don't think the market is quite good for spamming out Viagra.

anyone who does those sms spams should fuckin die :feels-hot and be careful with the thing about turning it off ... I used to work for tmobile, and people would call in about blocking sms ... I knew u couldnt but a lot of other reps tried doing it ... when they did it it would cause sms to count as extra min and ppl were getting charged like $500 sms bills for bullshit.

yea I don't think this type of BS would last long.. I said this before, when people start getting annoyed on their cell phones things will start changing for the spammers. First time some senator gets spam on his cell phone for anal hardcore action.. well will see some harsh spam laws put in place.

EviLGuY 05-12-2004 05:54 AM

That totally sucks.. I think maybe your cell phone provider can turn them off for you? I have the whole package and I never do anything on my phone but TALK. :)

jhauser 05-12-2004 06:00 AM

I would be totally pissed if I had to pay for a spam message. Can you imagine if the post office charged you 37 cents to deliver all of your flyers in your mailbox?
