What's your favorite Video Editing software?
i've never done video editing before, but my brother has to do some project and he needs to splice some clips together. what's some good software t do that in. maybe add some cheesy effects too?

I use Final Cut Pro on Mac, great piece of software, but maybe a little pricey if you are not having something to feed "him" every day.
For smaller jobs on windooze boxes i would say Vegas Video, PinnacleStudio9, Ulead VideoStudio8, lotsa cheap and pretty good packages out there. The important thing is from what you start (VHS, Hi8, miniDV, or maybe already digitised filez, on HDD or CD or DVD), and where do you want to go (video for web, CD, print to tape, and so on... ) |

Vegas Video 4.0 with Mpeg plugin

I have Vegas 4.0 and like it a lot. The only complaint I have is with their slow motion feature. It's pretty bogus. Premier has a more intuitive and straight forward way of creating slow motion clips.

Pinnacle.. I started with Studio 7 Deluxe and I'm now on Studio 9.. It's a doddle to use compared to Premier etc.

I usually use Vegas 4.0 (no clue what 5.0 can do better) and I am happy with it. For some smaler and easy things, I use the MS Video Editor which comes along with XP. It's a nice little tool
