i usually say "ok.... bye"

Most of the time I hang up before saying anything. I don't particularly like chatting on the phone.

So the person usually says Bye...and I say "mmmhmmm"

Over here (the Netherlands) it's quite normal to say 'thanks, goodbye' or something like it, to indicate the end of the conversation and that you're going to hang up the phone.

Me experience with US people is they just hang up then phone when the conversation is supposed to be over.

But I think that's weird because you never know of the other party has something to say more or not... :1orglaugh
