More and more companies prefer in-house employees...

Seems the more I talk to different companies the more I am noticing a growing trend. Companies are starting to prefer to have their employees in house rather then working from home.

Interesting to say the least... I've said it in the past... I wouldnt mind working in office somewhere up here in NY....

if you work in a office 40 hours aweek they have to provide benefit package.

if you are an independent contractor they don't, save money.

I hate working from home. I prefer being in an office.

Its more hard for me to work at home

synergysex 05-11-2004 03:13 PM

They like to have you work from home as an indpendant contractor... because they dont have to match taxes, provide benifiets or be subject to labor laws for overtime.

that's a great come back! :1orglaugh

Regarding the topic, working in the office = more productivity and higher work moral among employees due to interaction with eachother.

I'll put down my thoughts today sometime if I get a chance and remember.

Since being a full-time webmaster, I've rented an office & worked from home. I prefer working from home. I can work out for an hour, then get back to work. I can watch TV while I'm batching photos or other boring work that would make sitting an office tedious.

And of course, I'm saving $1000/month from not having the office, plus get to hahahahaha off a portion of my mortgage.

On the flip side, I've been considering outsourcing some work & would much rather have an employee that I can work with in person rather than in another country.

:2 cents:

flashfreak 05-11-2004 04:03 PM

I'm way more productive when I'm working in the office.. at home there's also smth to do in 2-3 mins - non-biz related.... here goes my concentration...

Raven 05-11-2004 04:17 PM

I've only worked in an office one time.

I hated it.

I love working at home.

Working in an office is ok as long as the pay and benefits are good.
