A doctor is a doctor. You still call on English professor Dr. Jones or whatever his name is. If they got their doctorate in their field, the deserve to be addressed as doctor.

psychologist (master): someone who has studied (mostly) 4 years in psychology

medical doctor (M.D. or doctor): somone who has studied 'medicine' for (in most countries) 6 or 7 years. M.D.s can prescribe.

psychiatrist: a M.D. who has finished an extra (in most countries) 6 years in psychiatry. Because he is a medical doctor, he can prescribe medications.

Ph.D / doctor: someone who has successfully done a promotion research in his field, e.g. psychology, law, but also medicine.
