M3 or 911?

Ok I have been changing my mind day after day for a week now ... I can't figure out if I should get an 2004 M3 or say a 2003 911 CS2 or CS4 ... what are the benefits of each ?

johnbosh 05-11-2004 08:10 AM

johnbosh 05-11-2004 08:10 AM

hova 05-11-2004 08:15 AM

911 offcourse, M3 is very unclassy

bdld 05-11-2004 08:16 AM

kmanrox 05-11-2004 08:16 AM

the porsche is the best handling car i've ever owned/driven... every doctor and lawyer has a bimmer...

i'd say porsche without a doubt :thumbsup

Corleone 05-11-2004 08:17 AM

911 man! porsche rocks!

ace0r 05-11-2004 08:18 AM

911

bizmak 05-11-2004 08:22 AM

M3 is bether solution (REASON - BMlover). ?This car have 343 Horse power. You can bye M5 maybe :winkwink:

Kenny B! 05-11-2004 08:23 AM

911 hands down... the M3 has outdated styling already and everyone and their uncle has a bmw, can't say the same for a porsche!

TheFrog 05-11-2004 08:23 AM

911 for sure

Minte 05-11-2004 08:27 AM

The cars are totally different.I have an M3 and 2-911's.

If i was forced to trim down to one car..It would be an M3smg Cabriolet. The reasoning, the M3 has a real backseat. It's very fast and fun to drive.Tires last much longer on the M3.It's much more civilized to drive in the city.I've been driving 3 series since 1995 as my daily car and in that time i haven't had to spend anything on maintenance.

The twin turbo is an expensive car to maintain.I go through a set of S02's on the rear about every 7500 miles and fronts around 12,000.Oil changes on the porsches are around 300.00.
I love Porsche, and will always have at least one,but not as a daily driver. If you want more info hit me up on icq. 4140162

doober 05-11-2004 08:34 AM

911 without any doubt

:glugglug

xApster 05-11-2004 08:40 AM

I already got a 330ci with like 50k worth of MODS on it so the reason I can't choose is becuase I feel like I have already done the m3 thing ... even tho its a much faster car my 330 looks a lot better than an m3 :)

And yes this would be my daily driver ... for the summer :)

There is good news and bad news about the 03' porsches. They are priced very well now.As the new model 997 is about ready to be released the value of the model 996 is dropping dramtically.Unless you are thinking about a GT3 or a GT2,the standard 03's will continue to drop in value as it wasn't real popular with the porsche community as a whole. The biggest beef against the car is the fact that Porsche used the exact same frontend for both the 911 and the boxster.Mechanically,it's a fantastic machine, the interior is a little to *oldsmobile* for my tastes but that is subjective. If you are seriously considering a 911,you might want to either hold out for the 997's or look around for a clean model 993..the last of the aircooled 911's :)

Odie 05-11-2004 09:08 AM

liquidmoe 05-11-2004 09:13 AM

Minte offers good advice on the porsche and I would tell you the same for a BMW, dont buy now hold out. The new 5-series M5 should be on sale starting about October and even if you dont like the styling of the new 5-series it will be a much better ride than the current 3-series. Plus 2005 you will start seeing the new 3/4-series replacements and your car will be outdated in one year.

Get the new M5 or wait for a new porsche, the new M5 will shave about a second off the time of the current M3's 0-60 not to mention you can comfortably seat 5. Plus in my opinion it looks hella fucking sweet:

Kinda big price difference there bud. If price is no object, 996 is very sweet if optioned correctly. M3 is OK, your not going to find many faults with its handling, acceleration or looks.

I think he hit the nail on the head here. I have not owned either but I have been asked simailer questions in regards to many of the other cars I have owned.

It comes down to what you are lookin for. Daily driver? Weekend play toy? Need the extra speed? What do you prefer to pay on maintenance? What is your climate like? Snow, rain?? etc. etc.

I would ICQ Minte.

gangbangjoe 05-11-2004 09:24 AM

i forgot

the sound of the porsche is way better than the sound of the bmw

did you get hard test drive? with both of them? if not, do it before you'll buy one :)

I think GangBangJoe said it best:

"911 man

bmw m3 is still a bmw

PORSCHE IS A PORSCHE"

Thats the only argument you need. A bmw is classy and styling.
A porsche is classy, styling, and fast as hell!!!:2 cents:

Platinumpimp 05-11-2004 10:19 AM

M3 hands down :thumbsup 8000rpm and kills a carrera 4 all the way up to 150mph.

Za Ha 05-11-2004 10:20 AM

I will take both your sites for it :)

qwe 05-11-2004 10:29 AM

i got 330 too, sweet car ... if you spend so much on mods, why not put it turbo in it, you will kill M3's... the turbo will give you from 400-500 HP, here's a link of a guy with ATP turbo

http://www.atpturbo.com/root/downloa...URBO_FLYBY.wmv

a1ka1ine 05-11-2004 10:39 AM

pretty nice dilemma you have there, you know things are going right for you when you cant decide between the 911 or the m3..

i got toasted on a dual carriageway by an m5 the other day, its speed was frightening..
