I just got a Sony VX2100. Can expect the sound from the on camera mike to be good enough for porn, or should I be looking to off camera mikes. If so, can you suggest web sites for me to research.

Thanks

the VX2100 is an excellent camera for "our" work .. It's body is based on my fav camera the PD150 but does not have the same chip set .. the mic on that the VX isn't all it's cracked up to be . and the sound will wound hollow, But yet for porn most just use the on camera mic .. (this from experience shooting for LA Porn studios, DVD production) However if you want to better the sound quality there are a few things you can do .. first you'll need a balance XLR to RCA Adptor. THere are many to choose from Beach tech and Studio 1 make some pretty good ones .. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...=247649&is=REG to have an idea of what I'm taliking about .. with a good parabolic mic you should get some kick ass audio ...

walk into any photo/video store .. most will carry a Light socket- with Scoop type of light .. With a tripod should run about 69 $ canadian ...u can use these with FloodPhoto bulbs .. they come in 300 -500 watts , either Tungsten or Daylight ... THe bulbs cost abotu 5.99 Canadian and will last about 4 - 8 hours .. Not the best but defenitly the cheapest ...

I think you mean Jibs and Cranes

Well there are many Jib manifactures around .. all depends on what type of camera your looking to mount .. I would need more information ..

A crane is way to big for anything you want to do .. stick to a jib arm with a manual or remote head . once you let me know the wieght of the camera to be used I can give you a list of manifactures that are reasonably priced

I personally own a Camcrane 200 3' to 8' manual head jib arm ... For cameras weighting 15 - 30 lbs

BTW Im also a steadicam certified operator

vidvicious 05-11-2004 09:07 AM

The most popular Jib out on the market is the Jimmy Jib Triangluar .. www.jimmyjib.com ... the Jimmy jib lite is a great kit for cameras under 20 lbs ..

THe Camcrane is a manual jib

I would add that if you are shooting "interview" type scenes, where you talk to the girl during the shoot, the mike it comes with is not good at all. It's not as much of a problem if you want to shoot pov cuz you're closer together.

tonkagunner 05-11-2004 10:01 AM

Would you recommend reflective lighting over regular lighting?

Grinder 05-11-2004 11:52 AM

Here's a question:

The following is my equipment list for shoots. What would be the next piece of equipment you would buy for adult shoots? (stedicam rig, camera mounted light, external battery pack, etc.)

Panasonic AG-DVX100a
Arri Softbank D5 (571964) Light Kit
Manfrotto/Bogen 501 Tripod with a fluid head
Sennheiser ME66/K6 Combo
Gitzo #G557 boom pole
XLR Cables
Sony Headphones

freeadultcontent 05-11-2004 12:11 PM

Can you put together a good list of equipment for a 2 camera shooting operation with a budget of under $10,000 that can be used for both web and hard copy production.

Trick is 1 camera will need to be mobile. While the second camera set up should be operatable by a person in a chair.

how high is the cieling ..

In a 14 x 14 with furniture .. you should be fine with 2 x300 w bounced and a a low soft box to soften shadows in hard to see areas ... this will be a very flat lighting scheme ... perfect for porn

For amateur video Refective light would work best ..

However if you got the money three Kino Flow 4 banks would be the greatest lighting for porn

Next step is to go wireless

Sennhieser ew500 RF transmitter/reciever or even the ew100 will do just fine

real good equipment list BTW I'm impressed

Operate form a chair????

Are you think about shooting one camera Hardcore while the other camera shoots soft?

I'm trying to understand your needs for this .. I'd need more info . you can always reach me on ICQ for Private consulting

I do a lot of mainstream stuff with it. It's also for rent if anyone in Atlanta wants to use it. Check it out here:

http://www.atlantamediagroup.com/equipment/

I really do like the Arri lighting kit. The D5 is the only kit with two soft-boxes, and it all folds up into a neat little 50 pound case.

Rule of thumb is 3 point lighting : One Key, One soft and one BG

YOu can still follow this rule when bouncing light .. in order to determine your Fill from your key use DIstance if the lights are the same watts ..

if you're up against a wall fore go the BG light and use a soft box placed real low like 3 or 4 feet from the ground .. a good softbox would be a Lowel PRo 250W with Chemira Bank TV Small.. the reason for the Lowel pro is that this is a light with a dimmer right on it, allowing you to control the intensity of this softbox .

My fav lighting for Porn is Kino Flows 4 banks .. either balanceed for daylight or Tungsten depending on the location .. you can actually Bounce (if your in a small room) two of the lights while the thrid will sit on the floor like an Eye light or in our case a Pussy light . Direct with a egg crate to soften the shadows.

Yes a chair - kind of stuck in one.

Yes one camera for soft, another for hard.

Whats your ICQ.

MUCH appreciated info, Vid!

Question:
I notice in some sites / scenes (http://www.QMov.com, for example)
that have a really bright, high contrast look.
How is that acheived? (through the Camera? Lighting?)
i.e.
http://www.pinkposts.com/images/qmov.jpg

Thanks,
-Hal

vidvicious 05-11-2004 10:42 PM

LOL that's actually somthing that you don't want to achieve .. At best I can only guess, what leads to an over contrasted video ?... it must of been shot overexposed and they tryed to rectify it in post .. Basicly that type of scenario would lead to an high contrast video. Wrong Filter, Or no ND filter when shooting out doors .. or even a mix of color temperatures Like a big bay hahahahahahas shining into room that is lite with tungsteon lights .. whilts the camera is set at a preset indoor white balance .. this will tend the video to be Very yellow with harsh blue colored lite .. in trying to rectify this in post prod one must reduce the Saturation and bring up the contrast ... here by achieving the "FX" you mention ..

Or you can just play around witht he Contrast and saturation till you get the FX you want ;)
