A system that projects light beams directly into the eye could change the way we see
US firm Microvision has developed a system that projects lasers onto the retina, allowing users to view images on top of their normal field of vision.
It could allow surgeons to get a bird's eye view of the innards of a patient, offer military units in the field a view of the entire battlefield and provide mechanics with a simulation of the inside of a car's engine. The system uses tiny lasers, which scan their light onto the retina to produce the entire range of human vision, reported the journal of the Institute of the Electrical and Electronics Engineers, IEEE Spectrum. more here on BBC |

yea but think of the possibilites of having that wearing like a pair of glasses or goggles where ever you are and you have the computer screen being beemed into your eyes would make monitors obsolete, portable technology all you need now is a air keyboard, i dunno if you guys ever saw them but they have those wristbands you can wear that allow you to have a "air" keyboard i dunno if thats whats its called

WOW :eek7 If the claims made in this story are correct, this is going to be a HUGE technology :thumbsup And if the "monocle" (viewing device) is $4,000 for the first generation, it will probably cost no more than an average computer monitor in a few years time.
This Star Trek shit will be everywhere! |
that sound amazing. this world is nice marketing place :), you can sell that for 4k$
|
what happens if it short circuits and overloads laserbeams in your eye?
|
Sound amazing!.. but is this long term secure to have that micro laser in your retina??

I am sure there will be some well paid guinea pigs initially! :Graucho
