New Search Engine pays people to search...
Imagine a "Google" that paid people to visit the adwords, as well as other 'easter egg' treasure hunt type of payoff's tucked around the site where various prizes can be won.
Think about it from a casino perspective with their slot machines... except the people feeding the slots are the advertisers & the visitors get to pull the arm all day for free winning prizes while they find what they are looking for. Hmmmmm. :glugglug |
I don't think that'd work out well.

Poeple would click on your adult adwords campaign only to win a t-shirt - where is the sense?
|
are you talking about a paid to click search portal type thing? If so that would be useless. People who get paid to click never buy anything. they only go to the site so they can get thier :2 cents:

Eh? The house never loses :winkwink: Obviously you would pay out less than you make in advertisements.. ie slots pay out 95% or whatever.. you would adapt the same sort of model. Pay out 95% while building your SE model up. As far as beating fraud and automated searches... that is cake to prevent. |
but paying people to click links is useless. They wont buy anything since they are most likely in deep debt if they need to earn 2 cents for every 20 clicks
|
yep this idea is about 5 years old. Pretty sure it would never work now...
|
Example:
If google nets $100 million a month and has 100 million unique people searching monthly, then each person is worth $1/month net. Put 20 cents per person in your pocket ($20 million) and kick back the other $80 million to the people who use the service. Google obviously wouldn't want or need to do this -- they are top dog already. But maybe if you wanted to compete with them and had services that were just as good or better. |
oop.

google wouldnt net $100 mil a month if it only had 100 million uniques a month... rather 100 million searches per 12 hours... |
Most folks won't partner with you if you have "incentivized traffic", or will make huge restrictions, because the traffic quality is so low. Read the TOS of AdSense, or other Pay-Per-Click systems.
You *can* often do so on a pay-per-action basis, though. That's how Spedia.net and other remnants of the "AllAdvantage" wave continue to operate. Some buying clubs will kick-back a fraction of their referral fees to members. |

I said 100 million unique users (not monthly searches). I also said example :winkwink: |
That has no sense..
And it will reduce the ratio of clicks which converts in commercial transactions even more. Samuel |

I'm not talking about reselling searches. I'm talking about using it as one way to market a new SE of Google's caliber. So you wouldn't be selling your searches to anyone. They would be your own. Your advertisers would be aware of the model too. |
