Which codec to use? Need some help.
 

I'm about to encode 100+ hours of video from raw tapes. What codecs and settings should I use? What's the standard now? WM9? XviD? Divx?

.wmv, or .mpg generally is what is being used these days.

Divx or Xvid would be nice.. but too complicated for your average user.

wm9 is sweet

i'm currently encoding in 3 sizes/speeds:

160 x 120 128 kbs
320 x 240 512 kbs
720 x 480 1250 kbs

I pefer mpeg, but what ever format you like viewing, use that.
