Places to live in Phoenix
 

I'm thinking about moving to Phoenix and buying house.

Which parts of Phoenix are good/bad?

Phoenix is a fucking hole I got my car robbed twice in that shithole. Scottsdale is ok but way overpriced for the desert.

there is some top quality property @ fantastic values - in the Van Buren area of town.. really top scale property :thumbsup

Sedona has some really cool looking homes. They are freakin expensive!

All of phoenix is bad, even the nice looking parts,
which are always surrounded by really bad parts.

Don't be fooled by the modern buildings and fountains,
it's a big ghetto with pockets of affluence.

Everybody is hot and really pissed off about it,
and it's mostly been absorbed by mexico;
lots of violence and drugs.

Double the national average in property crimes
and more than double the homicide rate.

for example:
a few weeks ago some friends of mine were hanging out in their apartment when someone burst in and shot one of them in the face. ... just a drug-induced act of random violence from a total stranger.

I grew up there and the number of people I've known who were killed is in the double digits. :warning

on the other hand, it would be a great place to find girls for porn.
so I guess it depends on your priorities.

Crime can't be that much different from Las Vegas.

I'm in Summerlin and crime doesnt seem bad at all. But my buddy is a cop in North Las Vegas and thats a whole different story....

Born and Raised here and Ive never had that happen to anyone I knew... what part of Phx did you live in?

Besides the heat, its actually a cool place to live. Prescott Valley is getting better too.

Ive you want to buy a house as an investment, do it in West Phoenix (Avondale/Goodyear). My parents bought a house and in 2 years the value went up $30k :thumbsup

Doesn't that pretty much describe most American cities?

Just find a neighborhood with a low percentage of crack houses and you should be okay. No promises of course. Oh, and don't move in next door to me. I'm nuts.

well, living in Vegas is good training for Phoenix..
but Phoenix is hotter than Vegas and has even more murders/assults/car-thefts.

IMO Vegas had a different sort of vibe, like the people living there aren't really connected .. like, they havent been living there very long, and/or they intend to move again anyway... so whogivesashit ... and when people meet they just assume the other is a tourist.

Scottsdale growing up, later other areas. Friends from all over.

I had one car stolen, then one attempted theft (in phoenix),
but the latter had a good security system and they couldnt move it.

Think about it. Where are people most angry all the time?
The Middle East... Africa... Arizona... :winkwink: deserts are hostile.

I live in a pretty nice area in phoenix. nobody has gotten shot yet!

I bought a 3 bedroom house in Peoria (west of Phoenix) a year ago for $112K and it's now praised at $130k. Phoenix is OK if you learn to pace yourself. But I know I won't want to live here for ALL my life. I would love to live near the ocean but can't afford California's prices yet.

arizona is a fascist right wing hell hole. i left to europe, its much better here.

that being said , i miss the heat :(
