expired creatine

i'm writting this to share an experience i had with creatine because i've seen some people here talk about taking that stuff. I started taking it 3 years ago and i stopped 2 years ago.. a week ago i started to work out again and i found some of the old creatine.. so i looked at the expiry date and there wasn't one.. so i figured fuck it, it's a salt, take that shit.

turns out it does matter as i felt sick as shit yesterday and today, i felt like i was going to die.

i'm pulling though right now i'm going to be ok

Oh Sheila 05-08-2004 04:29 PM

I would have also thought it would have been okay.. sorry to hear you got so sick.

What's the shelf life on creatine?

gornyhuy 05-08-2004 04:31 PM

For real? Are you sure it wasn't something else? or it grew some mold or something?

Damn - I have a 2 year old tub of creatine sitting in the cabinet waiting for me to get off my ass. :(

bllott 05-08-2004 04:31 PM

they say its like 4 -5 years is kept in a closed dark area, but i don't believe that.. I think they assume you'll be taking it right away

creatine makes me poop

KaLi 05-08-2004 04:35 PM

Why did you just buy some new creatine? Mine is only like a month old.

Tuna 05-08-2004 04:37 PM

i read somewhere that creatines shelf life is 6 months.

Creatine is not a good supplement. It makes you gain a lot of mass, but its all water content. I take something called No2, it makes your muscles stay pumped after you workout and gain muscle weight a lot faster.. checkout GNC for more info.. I highly reccomend it

That's because muscle tissue is 80% water...

creatine doesn't give "fake" muscles, it merely allows the person working out have more endurance and take more damage over the work outs.

that is what results in faster muscle buliding, not the creatine itself:thumbsup

Ive got a bunch of the creatine shit and all the protein shakes.

i took the exact dosage i took before this happened, and it wasn't just the stomach, it was an overall feeling of weakness and sickness

most brand name creatine comes with an expiry date. i only stick with brand names i know because i once had some bad stuff that might have been on the shelf too long.

did you have any long term damage ?

stev0 05-08-2004 11:23 PM

wow, i can't see how it could go bad.. unless you got some moisture into it.

Morgan 05-08-2004 11:29 PM

My brother got a stomach tumor from creatine. Luckily, all that happened to me after awhile was vomiting blood.
