The web is unsurfable on 56k

i'm not on my usual hi-speed at the moment... the pages take 20 seconds to load, posting is almost impossible (i did 5 in 20 minutes) and general surfing from page to page is frustrating since it's so painfully slow

i don't remember it being this bad on the internet... is it because we are all used to being on hi-speed now ("spoiled") or are the pages being designed in a heavier manner?

this is so crazy, i'm logging off now... i'll be back in a few hours on hi-speed

:feels-hot

DR_PHIL 05-08-2004 03:16 PM

yep it sucks when you go back..i suppose people that have always done dialup dont notice it..but i doubt it

eroswebmaster 05-08-2004 03:16 PM

Holy jesus man I would go fucking nuts...especially on GFY where they only have 1 hamster running on weekends.

Pornwolf 05-08-2004 03:16 PM

It's really frustrating. I don't know how people even surf TGP's when on dial up. You can only click a few links every 30 minutes!

TheFrog 05-08-2004 03:18 PM

havent used dialup since 2000

gwilkins 05-08-2004 04:31 PM

I couldn't live with dial up. :(
Pages are much bigger nowdays. 200k or more is common:2 cents:

69pornlinks 05-08-2004 04:32 PM

you're just spolied..56k is just fine

FUCK NO I"M NOT ON DIALUP :321GFY :glugglug

Ross 05-08-2004 04:33 PM

I used Dial Up in Cancun and it drove me fucking nuts. I don't know how anyone can use it!

bllott 05-08-2004 04:35 PM

get high-speed :2 cents:

candidpublishinginc 05-08-2004 04:39 PM

I've used dialup a few times and I had no problems. I've had cable for 7 years too.

Robbie 05-08-2004 04:44 PM

Hell, I'm running AMPLAND out of a trailer park using a Vic Commodore 20 computer and a state of the art 14.4kbs modem. What is "broadband"?:1orglaugh

KRL 05-08-2004 05:02 PM

When my home DSL was down for a day I was going nutty trying to get all my online work done.

The problem is all the people creating content are on high speed lines so they design everything for broadband. Not much stuff is for 56k surfers anymore.

I feel really sorry for the people that haven't experienced broadband.

But then again what they don't know they can't understand that they're missing.

stephanie m. 05-08-2004 05:07 PM

Agreed. The internet sucks on dialup. Thankfully, Ive always been on broadband, I used dial up once or twice and It was so annoying I gave up.

VicMartin 05-08-2004 05:10 PM

I took my laptop to Europe over the summer and they're not all caught up in the cable department in the smaller towns and villages. I had to use my 56k modem... I wanted to blow my brains out it was so slow.

I remember the frustration of 56k all too well. It was a few years ago, although it seems like yesterday!
