So I Emailed Michael Moore
Mr. Moore,
I recently passed on the chance to watch you speak when you came to Chico State University here in Chico, Ca. Had I not recently viewed "Bowling for Columbine" I likely WOULD have come. Before going any further, let me tell you a very small detail about myself: my entire living is possible because of the 1st Amendment. Although I majored in Computer Engineering, I make my living in the adult internet industry (www.donovanphillips.com). Bush and Ash.cr.oft scare the shit out of me. I can't believe how blatantly our freedoms are being taken from us. These two don't even try to hide it! But back to "Columbine"... I planned to see "Bowling" when it first came out, but didn't actually view it until it came out on DVD. I purchased the DVD and looked forward to watching it that evening. After popping it into my DVD player, you cannot imagine how disappointed I was at what I saw. This "Docu.mentary" was so full of creative editing, half truths, etc. It insulted my intelligence. I was hoping for objectivity, and instead witnessed what I can only describe as "Rush Limbaugh from the Left". I didn't finish the entire movie. I had to shut it off. I'm usually a very upbeat person, but for some reason the rest of my evening flat out sucked. I've read some journalists say that Michael Moore rips the rich, but only does so to become rich himself, fueling a cash generating machine through lies and half-truths. I don't want to believe this is true, but "Columbine" sure didn't do anything to contradict that assertion. I will see "Fahrenheit 9/11". The only reason I'm giving another Michael Moore film a chance is because of the fact that you cut your normal speaking fees when you came to Chico State (someone said that decision had something to do with your sister... if so: good for her). That seems like a very small thing, but I regained a tiny bit of respect for you when you did that. I hope this new film doesn't take that respect away again. Is it too much to ask for someone to have complete objectivity, with no pre-conceived ideas to slant them in either direction? Maybe it is... Good luck with the film. - Donovan Phillips - |
I'll give him one more chance to prove he's not the lying sack of shit I currently think he is...

assisination.

who on TV or who makes movies that is not a liar though?
Hollywood is smoke and mirrors, anyone who has been to the Haunted Mansion can tell you that. :winkwink: |

Seriously, though... Michael Moore supposedly reads all his email. If that is the case, I want him to know that it's not only the right that considers his movies to be extremely slanted, bullshit attempts at making money for himself. |
michael moore is political, but he is also very much a comedic filmmaker - he's not a historian, newsman or serious political commentator. if you watch his films and tv with that in mind, you might have a better time.

Hand wirrten letters are better. |

"On behalf of our producers Kathleen Glynn and Michael Donovan from Canada, I'd like to thank the Academy for this. I have invited my fellow docu.mentary nominees on the stage with us, and we would like to - they're here in solidarity with me because we like nonfiction. We like nonfiction and we live in fictitious times. We live in the time where we have fictitious election results that elects a fictitious president. We live in a time where we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons. Whether it's the fiction of duct tape or fiction of orange alerts we are against this war, Mr. Bush. Shame on you, Mr. Bush, shame on you. And any time you got the Pope and the Dixie Chicks against you, your time is up. Thank you very much." I love that "we like nonfiction" part. It's pretty ironic that he says that while accepting an Oscar for a work of fiction ("Bowling for Columbine") |

I live here, I see them contests way often. They are ALL LIARS is what I am saying. Michael Moore is no exception. ANYONE ON TV IS TELLING A LIE, is the way I go throughout the day. |
So you didnt watch the whole "Bowling for Columbine"? I guess you missed the part at the end where he said he was just joking.

Whats funny is they can cut education funds in Los Angeles alone, by 450 million last year, no clue how much for the entire state, but people feel so hard towards Michael Moore they email him but cant email the State about real problems.
I am not defending Michael Moore, but they are all in the same boat. every film maker makes movies for money, period. Whether its Blair With, ( a faked hahahahahahahahaary) or Bowling For Columbine ;) at least they both sell well. I am starting to hahahahaha letters to the state regarding real issues, Michael Moore can eat shit for all I care, Burn Hollywood Burn. ;) :thumbsup |

Edit to add: in other words, letter to politician ends up in round file, while letter to Moore MAY actually be read. LOL. |
unfortunately if he wasn't so leftish then he wouldn't be able to make money probably, the left is always the exact opposite of the right (e.g. in this case Bush). By that I mean is the worse Bush gets then Moore is always going to try and oppose that.

You HAve to give him some credit, because he gets people writing about him, when the same people wont even hahahahaha about REAL ISSUES. I find that amazing, and talent almost. |
