Well, they admit themselves they have no idea where the numbers come from and I don't believe those numbers for one second. I seriously doubt there is a 28 point difference in the average IQ between the population of Connecticut and the population if Mississippi.

Also, IQ is not a measure of how smart you are; it is a measure of your capacity for learning and your ability to reason. A person with a 185 IQ is not necessarily going to make a better voting choice than a person with a 105 IQ.

riosluts 05-08-2004 12:59 PM

holy. i though everyone's iq was pretty much the same from state to state. although i am not surprised that Gore has the lead

Rictor 05-08-2004 01:02 PM

Some one should make a chart like that with literacy rates or high school drop out rates, which are both hahahahahahahahaed and public knowledge. I'm sure the results would be similar.

Most universities are full of liberals not conservatives.

The Truth Hurts 05-08-2004 01:02 PM

massachusetts... 111.. lol.. i live amongst dumb fuckers.
pretty sad it's #2 on the list.

Oh Sheila 05-08-2004 01:06 PM

I'm a democrat :glugglug

bizmak 05-08-2004 01:24 PM

benc 05-08-2004 01:27 PM

Gee dont you think that site is just a bit biased. Hell they put Gore as winning florida :1orglaugh

Shooter 05-08-2004 01:29 PM

It's a pro-Democratic site that has no idea where the numbers came from and you guys are eating it up.

Yeh, Democrats are brilliant.

Lane 05-08-2004 01:37 PM

i dont know about the accuracy of this list, but it sure is an impossible to ignore fact

Yes, I do. However, that doesn't mean the information is automatically incorrect.

I don't know if the facts are accurate or not. I was just posting it for the purpose of discussion and to see people's reaction.

On-top 05-08-2004 01:45 PM

Hmmm..here's a similar page from Google...

http://www-unix.oit.umass.edu/~gcharter/iq.txt

----------------

The income-IQ correlation was inspired by the book "IQ and the Wealth of Nations," by Richard Lynn and Tatu Vanhanen. The income statistics are now perhaps a decade old, but were apparently the only numbers available to the original compiler when the results of the '00 election became available (and this chart was made).

FlyingIguana 05-08-2004 01:46 PM

politics is bullshit. no matter what party you vote for, you can rest assured there will be an idiot running the country.

hottoddy 05-08-2004 01:48 PM

WTF? How in the hell could they ever obtain a meaningful average state IQ? I bet 90+% of the entire population has never been given a real IQ test. Plus, IQs really don't really mean squat. They use to give kids standard IQ tests, but that stopped in the 70s. Official state IQ averages simply don't exist, except in the mind of biased authors.

This is just another variation of the "University Analogy." The vast majority are bright in certain areas and very liberal - yet they have no real world common sense. Most professors couldn't survive outside the university system - that's why they're there. It's called the Ivory Tower Syndrome.

Simply enter http://americanassembler.com
and its easy to see it's a moveon.org wannabe.

Remember when McGovern got slaughtered and got one state, namely Massachusetts..... note that MASS. is at the top of the list.

The people from Massachsetts frequently prove their stupidity given that previous vote, and the the current crop of clowns they have voted into office. (Ted Kennedy and Lurch for example)

There is no correlation between IQ and common sense.

Repetitive Monkey 05-08-2004 03:13 PM

"Error Correction: The source of this data is not "Wealth of Nations" as it had been attributed to us. A reader writes in and tells us he has the book (Sorry to hear that Mike) and the state IQ's aren't in it."

"So we're still trying to track down the source for the IQ scores. As this is all a bit of good fun we aren't to concerned with the source. We know that Republicans are mentally impaired. If they weren't, that would just make them greedy."

"Just in case anyone missed it, this page is for amusement only."

I guess it slipped by your massive IQs. :)

If your a retard democrat is should surprise you, the south votes more democrat than republican except when the politician is from the south.

Rich 05-08-2004 03:22 PM

I wouldn't take those numbers very seriously, but this point, it's not a well known fact? I mean it's basically an election of the educated vs the uneducated the way I see it.

People who vote Republican either

a) Have a direct hand in the party (executives at war profiteers, oil companies, banks)
b) Religious nutcases who vote on issues like abortion and gay marriage, and the fact that Bush says God a lot.
c) People kept ignorant who believe that the Republican party are actually the people they pretend to be, instead of a bunch of chickenhawk criminals who fuck up and steal from the country every time they're in power.

Karl Rove's job for the past 2 years has been making sure people in the swing states don't get real news.

Just to show you how bad the democrats are.

Tennesse was Al Gores home state. Bush won Tennessee.

Any of the other states that know gore as well would have gone to Bush

You must be in one of those states.

Buff 05-08-2004 03:32 PM

Steve Sailer is all over the "IQ by State" hoax. Just keep scrolling and reading.

FunForOne 05-08-2004 03:34 PM

So the actually truth comes out, 6 out of the top 9 educated states went to Bush.

Reminds me of an old story, "The Emperors New Cloths" :Graucho

synergysex 05-08-2004 04:14 PM

Well, the IQ test is fucked then. Voting as a Democrat demonstrates ignorance.

Buff 05-08-2004 04:33 PM

It's still a hoax, people: http://www.isteve.com/

candidpublishinginc 05-08-2004 04:48 PM

As soon as I saw this I knew this was a hoax. I mean for crying out loud they even show that Gore won Florida there even though it's been shown several times over he hasn't.

These guys are sore losers and the fact that so many liberal blogs believed this IQ hoax shows who really has the low IQ. :1orglaugh

Also for the record, I'm not voting for Bush nor am I a Bush supporter.

I am voting for Gary Nolan of the Libertarian Party in 2004.

Doing the later is the same as doing the former. Anything that takes away from a vote for Kerry is in fact a vote for Bush.

Isn't that the same thing? Smart is a synonym for intelligent. Intelligence can be defined as:

\In*tel"li*gent\, a. [L. intelligens, intellegens, -entis, p. pr. of intelligere, intellegere, to perceive; inter between + legere to gather, collect, choose: cf. F. intelligent. See Legend.] 1. Endowed with the faculty of understanding or reason; as, man is an intelligent being.

That's exactly what you said IQ was a measure of.

Pornwolf 05-08-2004 06:42 PM

What scares me is that the average IQ is so low.

I guess it explains a lot of stuff like Jerry Springer, Britney Spears and why Paris Hilton is famous.

I think we dodged a bullet with that one, Gore had a mental breakdown not long after the campaign was over.

BigFish 05-08-2004 07:01 PM

IQs are as meaningful as lie detector tests. Only gimpy talk shows use them to measure anything. If IQs were even close to a useful measure of a person's intelligence, then Universities would be using a person's IQ as "part" of the admissions process, but they don't!! :1orglaugh

Sorry but I won't vote for somebody that says "Americans don't need an AK47".

Both myself and my business partner own guns. It REALLY rubbed my business partner the wrong way since he happens to own an AK47.

Also Kerry is a tax and spend liberal who is anti business and pro labor. Fuck that. If you want to be an idiot and support him you're more than welcome to.

Don't worry though, there is no way Bush will win. So there is no need for me to go vote for him.

Besides we vote for president indirectly, as a NH resident I am much better off voting Libertarian.

States with the highest murder rates, drug use, venereal diseases, and reported rapes also vote Democratic.

He's not a tax and spend conservative. He reduced taxes. He is no doubt a fiscal liberal though with all of the pork he let through.

He is a spend and spend SOME MORE conservative....he has expanded government, hurt civil liberties, waged a pointless war, and is creating a huge deficit.

He gets an F from me when it comes to fiscal policy. However Kerry comes close and he's for raising taxes. I'd give Kerry a D+ for fiscal policy.
