Are any webmasters here from Chicago or the surrounding area ?
Basically I've got a few friends coming to Chicago next month and they are looking to rent some accomodation so I was wondering if any of you guys who live in the area know of any websites for places to rent in the Chicago area.
They can only stay 3 months max so does anyone even know if its possible to rent a place in Chicago at a reasonable price for such a short amount of time ? Also a problem might be the fact that the 3 of them are 20 years old, I have no idea but I get the impression that you would need to be 21 to rent a place in america ? Also if someone wouldn't mind listing a few of places that are off limits due to the fact that the 3 of them are 20 years old. Nightclubs, bars are they all impossible to get into if your under 21 ? |
Come on people ! Someone must be from Chicago

move to Canada, drinking age is 18. Plus they have hockey |
well, they can't afford to live near me
try rent.com and craigslist.org hit the chicago link, craigslist has alot of listings for sublets and whatnot. or do what i did walk around where you want to live, there's these black and orange for rent signs. if it's a great neighborhood most dont even list online they just use rent signs cuzz they rent out fast enough. tell em good luck, and remind em that them to stay out of lincoln park, all the women are spoken for by me. |

Poke around the Chicago Reader Spacefinder page, you might find something there. Since they are 20, they won't be able to find any bars to hit, and with a big enough deposit, most landlords, especially in some of the neighborhoods that have old Irish living there for years I don't think it will be a problem. Good Luck! |

Dude.. I'm from Chicago too and even in the Gold Coast (the real $$$ area), there are some old, but decent, two bedroom apartments that are only $1500 a month. Lincoln park is way overrated. 9 out of 10 bars there suck ass and remind me of college. |
There's plenty of cheap places in the ghetto. $250 and a rock of crack per month.

What are the main alternatives for things to do in Chicago for people in the 18 - 20 age range ? My friends were thinking of trying to get in contact with some of the local colleges in Chicago because if most students had gone home over the summer they thought that it may be possible to get cheap accomodation in some college dorms. Anyone know if that would even be a possibility ? |

Lincoln Park is fun, but so is Bucktown, :thumbsup and yes they love the Irish, with any luck your friends might run into the Irish ladies from Dublin working as bar maids at night, and college during the day. :1orglaugh As for them being under 21, there are plenty of places for them to have a good time without drinking, Chicago is a real 24 hour a day city and they would have to have the social skills of a sloth not to find anything to keep their attention. |
