Hella nice... I'm reading the book now and going to take a course. Then I'm going to buy a bike myself.

Semi-Retired-Dave 05-07-2004 02:57 PM

Just be easy on the throttle, I was wheelie king back in the days, and our old GSXRs, you used to have to rev it and then pop the clutch, I have a new R1 now, and just like your new bike. You just barely get on that throttle in just about any gear, the front end comes up.

SlickRick 05-07-2004 02:59 PM

not to bad for a rice rocket :thumbsup

body 05-07-2004 03:02 PM

that rocks!

that's hilarious.

i bought a 88 gixxer new and rode with some hurricane 600 riders who informed me that to wheelie, rev it to about 10k and pop the clutch.

i almost went all the way over
:1orglaugh

Jarrod 05-07-2004 03:17 PM

Thanks everyone!
Dre- Yes that is what happened. :)

About the wheelies- Im not all about wheelies now that's why I bought this CBR1000RR. It handles the road really well and doesnt just go up on you if you throttle it too hard. I am still in the breaking in stage so I have pinned it just a little and did a couple wheelies but Im really not all about that anymore.

I've learned this.. wheeling and stunts and chrome rims are for the squids. Some of these guys go and do the wheelies and stunts but can only go fast in a straight line. Basically they suck at riding. Then you have the professional track riders who will wheelie sometimes just because they know how and can. Either way I'm not all about that anymore I'm more into going 180MPH on a track at track day June 3rd. All my leather and new helmet are on order I can't wait. Anyways thanks guys you rule! :glugglug

MrIzzz 05-07-2004 03:20 PM

excellent chioce in bike:thumbsup that baby has won some races, i've been looking at those myself.

Semi-Retired-Dave 05-07-2004 03:20 PM

Have someone video you on the track, that would be fun to watch. Your first track day on your new bike.

StRoGE 05-07-2004 03:51 PM

Lookin good! I was actually planning on going bike shopping today, but I didnt quite wake up in time. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

Marcus Aurelius 05-07-2004 03:53 PM

FUGGIN nice...congrats.

newbreed 05-07-2004 03:58 PM

Nice bike man! What state do you live in? I am waiting for the grey one, but there are very few of the 1000s in Ohio right now and no grey ones.

Mr Pheer 05-07-2004 04:14 PM

If it were mine, I'd get the swingarm and passenger footpegs & brackets annodized black like the rest of the frame. That would look pretty good.

marko13 05-07-2004 04:17 PM

that is monstrum my friend and good riding on it.......

dnsmonster 05-07-2004 04:29 PM

I got dibs at the speech at your funeral!

SuckOnThis 05-07-2004 04:35 PM

I love that bike. I was at the dealership a few weeks ago and I couldnt decide on that bike or the 1100 Shadow. I ended up going for the Shadow because the seat position on the CBR was a little uncomfortable, and I already have a Suzuki 1200 Bandit. That bike would have been fucking fun though.

BlueDesignStudios 05-07-2004 04:37 PM

Looks like it would fly :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

bufferover 05-07-2004 04:42 PM

So cool! I love motorcycles! It looks like the new Yamaha, so hot!!!

cspdinc 05-07-2004 05:56 PM

the new 600s are nothing like the 600s of say 5 years ago... they pack quite a punch if anyone is a first time rider they arent the right bike really... the all time best bike to LEARN on is a 500 ninja they crash well (you will crash) and are cheap, plus enough people out there want to learn so you resell when your half ass good and then get a bitchin 600.
Ive rode gsxrs for years, then we built a 182 hp RI $$$ (formula 1 class for willow) that the owner got thrown from and I got to ride it the next 2 years. it was fucking awesome. you could actually lift the nose leaned over coming out of a hard corner by rolling on just right and you could gas it and lean it over in the air (2-3 in) to the opposite corner like a fighter plane with out fancy smancy wheelies... it was frickin faster than shit. We ran it on a dyno and with street gearing got 218mph out of it. (no wind resistance etc..) fastest I went on it was 187. That was really being alive. loved it.
Planning on getting a new gsxr soon. My old one wore out . It got so I rode it so hard I went through tires every 3 weeks. (ran Palomar Mt) got tired of running with it pegged wide open all the time and just lost interest in it after I started riding the R1. .... fun stuff (yes I crashed a few times and yes it hurt. wear armor no matter how hot.

JohnV 05-07-2004 06:00 PM

All the talk about bikes is killing me. It's all I've been reading about for months as I subscribe to 3 different bike mags and I think it's about time I throw down the gauntlet soon.

Seriously leaning toward the 04 Suzuki GSX-R 600 in the corporate blues. Gotta ride soon:feels-hot

let me guess u were in 1st gear? it is definitly not recommended to use the clutch to wheelie in 1st. too easy to loop the bike

amjo 05-07-2004 06:37 PM

Get rid of that death machine.
Buy a car instead.
Do yourself a favor. Just my advice.

hehe, i prolly was, i don't remember,
but i do know it was that bike that made me switch to harley.

i did hit ~165 mph on it (according to the speedo)
and realized i would want to go that fast everywhere i went from that point forward.

nothin like speed
