Need new Laptop - Advice ???
I need to get a new laptop - i like the dell i got cuz i can swap out batteries, drives, but it's getting old.
any suggestions? anyone love their laptop? please tell me about it. 20-40GB is fine - but i want something good so i know the hard drive isnt gonna take a shit. Dont need to launch rockets or anything, im mainly concerned with quality guts, reliability. something that tolerates 2000 pro would be ideal - my dell doesnt like it. TIA |
how much you selling your old one for?

Anything IBM will last forever... Im currently using a T40... great performance and its pretty light.

I just bought a T22 IBM.. it only weighs like 4 lbs. Its an offlease I got cheap.. seems pretty solid so far. You can find them on ebay for like 600 bucks.
My old laptop was like 8+ lbs so I found myself not wanting to take it with me.. which I gues sis kinda the point of having a laptop right? |

I had an Acer of all brands before my current one. LOVED it, great service, it was a very thin and powerful little thing. Now I've got a Dell D600, which is a bit heavier/thicker, but packs a 1.6GHz with a 40GB 5400rpm drive into a 5.4lb laptop. I carry it with me to school everyday, so relatively-light-but-powerful is important. Also, the SXGA+ is a godsend. I can't stand lower resolutions. One of my good friends got the 600m as well. We both absolutely love em.

i dont care about weight - could be 15 lbs for all i care - battery life, and most importantly good guts (a hard drive that isnt gonna drop dead) and what the F is i Pentium M .... damn i am behind the times - something to do with Centrino? thats only useful if i have a wireless LAN, no? plus the processor speeds seem pretty slow compared to the p3s and p4s
