Let me tell you about ColoGroup Hosting...

SInce Ive been with this hosting company for about 8 months or so , my service has grown continually worse. In the beginning sites would go down hours upon end but now they have gone down DAYS upon end. WHen I was at the Phoenix forum, my sites all were down the entire convention.. and they were unreachable.
When I finally reached them , I was told some lame ass story that someone from the company pulled the plug or something like that. They had promised me there would be back up and I said ok. This coming off the heals of my sites going down twice the previous 2 weeks for a full day apiece.
SO after this promise.. not even a week later, all my sites AGAIN go down. This time I call the so called HOST and scream FIX MY SHIT. It was at this time I called Brad from Mojo Host and started to transfer sites to them.
There are NUMEROUS people to testify to the fact of knowing my sites were down SO MANY Times.
Thats what I get. True to the form you get what you pay for. THen ColoGroup has the BALLS to ask me for payment. Not once did they apologize by offerring reconciliation for damages and money lost for down time.
So in Short:

COLO GROUP GO FUCK YOURSELF

EviLGuY 05-07-2004 04:59 AM

Mojohost has nice connections to the net.. I don't think you'll have anymore problems.

Aren't hosting problems the worst? I am pretty laid back, but thats one thing that pushes my buttons big time.

aflex 05-07-2004 05:03 AM

give Webair a shot, i'm sure Mike will take care of you!

amacontent 05-07-2004 05:13 AM

Yeah now this schmuck from COLO GROUP is giving me all kinds of excuses how its not his fault , it was the carrier, I should have been more prepared. How do you prepare to be down 9 times.
Do not let this guy scam you into hosting with them

Pipecrew 05-07-2004 05:52 AM

If you do a search on the board for cologroup you will find atleast 60 negative stories.

liquidmoe 05-07-2004 07:33 AM

If you are thinking of switching hosts hit me up on icq at 36837470 I will set you up with an amazing deal and you can forget about these downtimes.

m00d 05-07-2004 07:40 AM

the same thing happened to me. i sent them one server to give them a test. the stuff i had hosted there immediately began to go down for hours and days on end with little or no support. they went down for days and days and I was scared they were going to steal my server if i cancelled on them so I told them something blew on the server to please send it back to me for repairs

when i got it back i cancelled their SORRY ASSES

:2 cents:

Joe,

You've asked me for advice in the past but this time I'm going to give you unsolicited advice.

In this industry you need to work through your problems with your vendors, suppliers and customers. You don't want the reputation of "the guy that will bitch about you the boards". If that guy is you some people won't do business with you because you'll bitch about them on the board if you think they are wrong.

My :2 cents:

Rick I understand but its more than a little situation. THese guys cost me thousands of dollars in buisness and would not answer emails, ICQ and gave no support and totally fucked me. Its not like they did this 2 , 3 , 4 times. It happened NINE times
My sites went down DAYS on end. This should not happen to anyone else

thanks for the plug AMA...we're certainly glad to have you aboard.

NoCarrier 05-07-2004 09:05 AM

Always search on GFY when you want a new host.

Like Pipecrew said, there are tons of threads about how bad they Cologroup was.

In most cases, a hosting company will have negotiated with their upstream provider to be compensated for downtime. Usually this means that they will not receive a bill for that month.
You might check into whether or not COLO Group received such reprieve from their bill, and insist that you receive your fair share of the savings. By not having to pay their monthly bill, and not passing it on to you, the end user/sufferer; that month may have been their most profitable yet.

Cologroup has a colorful history in this industry.

Many stories.

cherrylula 05-07-2004 11:47 AM

Yeah they gave us like a 30 day notice they were killing virtual way back, and killed about 20 of our sites before we had moved them without notice, before the 30 days were even up.

It was a total nightmare, and we had planned on upgrading to dedicated with them even (thank goodness we didn't), and then they pulled that shit.

Amazing they have any customers doing biz with that name still.

Its always amazing how people never bother to do research with company names.

Anyhow, I used cologroup what 2 years ago for a side project in addition my main servers, and it was nothing but a head ache as well, they eventually ran into all those problems you mention as "colorful history" and I would never use them again. My favorite was the "crazy guy" Ama is most likely referring to supposedly stealing servers etc? Remember someone posting on the board that their server disappeared or something?

geez.

Ama do a search it could help you out in then future.

First that russian tech guy steals the original Cologroup's routers and switches, then steals the domain and puts a colo behind it. Now he says some employee is fucking them over? haha Payback's a bitch
