Does Circumcision protects men against HIV ??
 

Research revealed this week asserting circumcision protects men against HIV has been dismissed by HIV researcher Andrew Grulich and thr Aids council of New South Wales in Australia, president Adrian Lovney. Melbourne University professor Roger Short told ABC Radio this week circumcision conferred ?considerable protection on men against becoming infected with the AIDS virus? due to the presence of receptor cells inside the foreskin.

Grulich, former president of the Australian Society of HIV Medicine, told the Star the research was being taken out of context. ?There are studies in Africa where there is inadequate access to hygiene where the presence of a foreskin may increase the risk of HIV ?? Grulich said. ?There is, however, no research in developed countries that being circumcised protects you from HIV. For example, one of the countries with the highest rates of circumcision in the world, the USA, has one of the highest rates of heterosexual transmission of HIV in the world. Now if the foreskin was the only site of entry for HIV into the penis, that would not be the case,?

Grulich said. Lovney agreed. ?I think it is dangerous to take findings in one setting and to apply them to another,? he said. ?Our view is that, circumcised or not, using a condom is still the safest way to protect yourself against HIV transmission in Australia.?

I highly suggest it.... I didnt want to circumsize the one son I had at home.. I wanted it all to be natural and left up to him when he got older....wrong decision!

when he got to be 4, i figured i had shown him how to keep it clean enough and he would do it on his own with my telling him to at every shower.. well, long story short. he wasnt pulling the foreskin back enough and it grew onto the head of his penis..poor guy.

I took him in for surgery at age 5 and it was really horrifying for him and I.. the doctor had no compassion.. slammed a huge needle into his poor little penis.. little man damn near came off the table screaming in pain.. I had to hold him down while the doctor told him to quit his bellyaching and take it like a man.

I told the doctor I would reduce him to a little boy if he continued his bullshit. The worst part was having to go back and have the little plastic peice taken off (bell)..the doctor got slapped during this procedure.. he just ripped it off new skin and all.. my little guy couldnt walk for days after this torture dr.'s bullshit.

I never had any problems. My parents didn't just tell me to pull the foreskin back. They explained why i should do it, etc. It didn't seem like a chore. It was just part of washing msyelf. No big deal.

I've said this before, and i'll say it again. I think it's hilarious that there are people who campaign against the docking of dog's tails, etc (to the point that it's now illegal in australia), but nobody seems to have a problem butchering their child's penis. Disturbing.

I explained to him over and over again why he should pull the skin back and keep it clean.. I happen to live in a country that would throw me in jail for touching my childs penis at age 5..so I had to leave it up to him. I sure as hell was not going to get accused of molestation..here with the HRS/CPS its guilty till we can get enough lies to prove you guilty.
