Does your acount rep really help you that much?

Does your acount rep really help you that much?

I have been told that the acount rep never is just a college coputer studies major with a general understanding of the internet but no adult knowdlege to if it wasn't for so and so I prolly wouldn't have made it in the biz.

From your personal experience how much help has your account rep been in the development of your success?

Pornwolf 05-07-2004 01:07 AM

I dunno about the skills but a couple sure did track down checks lost by Airborne and Fed Ex.

Hell, that's all I would ask anyway.

Dwreck 05-07-2004 01:09 AM

Shouldn't you expect more Pornwolf? Do they ever check on you and your progress?

johndoebob 05-07-2004 01:14 AM

I normally don't need any help but if I have questions it normally takes 2-7 days to get a more or less qualified answer.

Bottom line: better invest the money into getting and keeping good webmasters who get you customers instead of wasting it on some rep who gets you a bad rep :winkwink:

Dwreck 05-07-2004 01:17 AM

johndoebob I concure ...so you feel your not being valued at times?

KDizzla 05-07-2004 01:19 AM

They work good at keeping the moral high. :1orglaugh

Dwreck 05-07-2004 01:20 AM

And if that makes you more money they are doin a kick ass job.

EviLGuY 05-07-2004 01:24 AM

Not really a huge help.. sometimes can be annoying too with emails and ICQs.

I just want people to leave me the fuck alone. If I join and don't send traffic.. I am eiither working on it, or I decided I didn't like something major about your program.

From a program owner prospective I thought I would add my :2 cents:

If you deal with me (ToyBoy), you are dealing with a partner in the Curious Cash program, and that brings nearly 5 years experince is most aspects of this biz - I started with free sites and TGP's and built myself up from there.

Ask the affiliates that work with me - whenever I am here, I am here for them.

My affiliates are the MOST important part of our business.

:thumbsup

Look at it like this, the more joins a webmaster can send - the less help he usually needs.

So with that in mind do you think they are truly worried about paying somone qualified to do the job. They just need someone to chase the checks for us and lookup account errors.

Dwreck 05-07-2004 01:32 AM

Pornwolf I never thought of it in that light.

So account reps should really leave the big guys alone? But arent they the ones that scream the loudest on boards?

Is there a happy meduim?

Well I feel the need to get my stuff done fast and don't like to wait - time is money :winkwink:

I prefer programs where the owner who actually should have a clue about his program is avaible over the day and does answer ICQ messages or e-mails within 24h.

I don't think many actually need any reps they are just too lazy to do the work themselve :winkwink:

My account rep for my hosting (Mark Memmer from Candid) has helped me all kinds. from setting up hosting when i was a newb, to just generally being there for all my stupid questions. and as far as sponsors, i usually use weg's message board if i have a question.

Axeman 05-07-2004 01:37 AM

Depends what company. Some reps I never hear from, some are very slow to respond and some are great.

Most time programs hire under qualified people to be account reps as they are cheaper, and the skilled people wouldnt take that role or the lower cash.

I guess that's all that matters! :winkwink:

newsdude 05-07-2004 03:43 AM

An accoun rep ain't good if he/she can't track down your money!

StRoGE 05-07-2004 05:42 AM

I find dealing with account reps to be more of a pain in the ass than anything. MOST are slow to respond and even slower to solve a problem. I find I get the runaround more then actual answers that im looking for most of the time. I dont even bother anymore. If I cant figure it out, they usually cant.

blazin 05-07-2004 05:51 AM

Don't really make use of my account reps these days.

When I 1st started in this business I did call on Rowdy @ Cecash who helped me out countless times
