PetMyKitty 05-06-2004 11:29 PM

they have a shipping dept in phoenix and i live in phoenix.
i send my movies to a phoenix po box. they get it the next day.. they mail out my movies that same day.. i get them the very next day.

doesn't get any better than that!

i love netflix..
although they did raise their prices.. i just dropped my membership from an 8 dvd out at a time to 5.

not willing to pay the higher fee..
other than that.. they are way better than when i first joined 3 years ago.

Lace 05-06-2004 11:29 PM

Here's a little trick: just cancel your account. The last thing they ask you is if you want to stay at a "special" price. I had the $20/month unlimited rental (three out at a time) plan and I decided to cancel because I figured I wasn't really watching enough DVDs to make it worth paying a subscription fee. When I tried to cancel, they offered to let stay for $14.95.

Brujah 05-07-2004 06:05 AM

I've had a Netflix account for years, and can't imagine why he's having problems.

Maybe he keeps "losing" his DVDs.

Dax 05-07-2004 07:31 AM

I have also had mine for a long time and never had a problem.. they also have a warehouse down here, so i get my movies quick as shit!

:thumbsup to nextflix!

m00d 05-07-2004 07:44 AM

interesting read, i havent noticed this

kill bill is available now for me

C_U_Next_Tuesday 05-07-2004 07:51 AM

thanks for the heads up, I will make sure i put Kill Bill on my list before my free trial is up :1orglaugh

sltr 05-07-2004 08:03 AM

that's degrading

scoreman 05-07-2004 08:38 AM

Netflix gave me a 15 day trial followed by a 30 day period that cost $22. Those 45 days expires on 5/15 and so far i have 24 rentals out. I believe I will probably hit 27-30. I plan to quit on 5/14. That will work out to about $0.73 a rental without ever leaving my house.

Who is scamming who?

I've had my account for almost 3 years also and have loved it. There's a processing center here in Denver also so I normally mail one out and get another in less than 2 days. GREAT service.

If you like Movies and games try Gameznflix

They have more titles and a few bucks cheaper too.

riosluts 05-07-2004 09:11 AM

Well its a good way to keep the new members from cancelling their accounts. Old members are probably used to all this and probably forget to cancel their subscription. While new members would be pissed if they had to wait a long term to get a movie and cancel

myneid 05-07-2004 09:49 AM

Netflix is great. Its perfect for anybody that rents at least 3 movies per month.
That web site is not a valid argument, he sounds like a dumbass to me.

they raised their price like under $2.
they deserve it

PetMyKitty 05-07-2004 10:17 AM

actually..
they raised the membership
on the 8 dvd's out at 1 time from $39.95 a month to $49.95 a month...that's a $10 increase.. which is why i switched to a 5 dvd at a time plan which is only $34.95 with the new increase.

increases are ok with expanded warehouses and service.. but a $10 increase is a little high in my opinion :)

netflix still rocks though!

Ricky Dynamite 05-07-2004 10:34 AM

I might sign up for this GameZnFlix.com thing. Looks cool.

0zzy 05-07-2004 10:41 AM

Maybe it depend on the location where you live. NetFlix must have more than one center of distribution. So at one center, it could be more requested than at another.

0zzy 05-07-2004 10:41 AM

I'm in Montreal, so I use http://www.dvdzap.ca

PetMyKitty 05-07-2004 10:44 AM

if you don't want to wait for your movies
you can download them

http://www.movielink.com

on monday - thurs they have a new release for 99cents available. not as many new releases up but an alternative choice ifyou have a kick ass system and dsl connection.

When did you cancel? I just tried that and got this screen:

"Below are several things to keep in mind once you cancel your Netflix Service account.

Cancellation will be effective immediately.
There are no refunds for partial months. You can sign up for Netflix Service again at any time; however, you will not be eligible for another free Netflix Service offer.

Outstanding rentals must be mailed back to Netflix within 7 days of cancellation.
If you cancel, you must return all outstanding rentals within 7 days, or we'll automatically charge your credit card for the unreturned DVDs. No refunds or credits are given for partial months or unwatched movies.

We'll send you an email confirming your cancellation."

I just got rebilled so I don't really want to cancel and lose my remaining subscription for the month. I might test it at the end of the month.

They are supposed to ship it from whatever distribution center has it available, even if it's not the closest one to your home.

hottoddy 05-07-2004 10:53 AM

Running out of copies is unacceptable in today's movie rental world.

I've also heard that Netflix profits are being eroded by higher than expected shipping costs. They are currently investigating ways to limit the number of monthly shipments a subscriber can receive. That would suck.

Missy 05-07-2004 10:58 AM

I've never had a problem with them either. Course, I am more likely to watch old movies than new releases. Not much has come out in the last couple of years that's worth watching, IMO. And if it's something I have to see right away, I usually watch it in the theater.

The best thing about Netflix is that you can keep your movies for as long as you want. You don't get as much for your money that way, but for somebody like me who has spent more money at Hollywood Video for late charges than the actual movie rentals, it's well worth the price!

bopha 05-07-2004 11:26 AM

We never had one problem with them. We got Kill bill the day it was released. In fact, we get movies the next day. There is a distribution center in our city so that probably helps, but we were spending a few hundred a month at Hollywood Video so NetFlix has been awesome.:thumbsup

NinjaSteve 05-07-2004 11:30 AM

boohoo :(

NetFlix kicks total ass. I've never had a problem. If I want a movie I put it on the list and get it soon enough.
