I would hardly equate the torture of prisoners in those photo's to torture inflicted by Saddams regime, the pictures are shocking - but not like what saddam did.

There's no other choice. It sucks that they've sunk down to the Iraqi level, but it's a last resort.

Even if one was killed under extreme interrogation it is not acceptable.

being naked is not even the problem, it's the simulated sex acts, the beating and the threats of electrocution, and degrading, humilitation being wrought on prisoners (not all of them are P.O.W's either!) by american soldiers.

The people of iraq were living peacfully day by day. I think the 14+ deaths while under custody and/or interrogation investigations say differently with at least 2 readily confirmed homicides.

This little adventure could have been presented to the public as "we want their oil and we are going to grind them into submission to get it". What would you guess? We have 20% or 30% conscienceless neanderthals who would have supported it?

I agree. Torture is bad. I put torture and rape on the same level as murder because I feel it ends the victim's life as they knew it. It's a matter of torturing a few to save thousands of lives.

just because something is labeled homicide does not mean that person was killed in cold blood, even when people are shot by the police under justifiable situations, it is listed as homicide by the coroner. I'm not saying you are not correct - but let's wait on the "facts" of prisoners tortured to death e.g paperwork and d ocuments available before jumping on the bandwagon, in fact I remember listening on the news to one of the soldiers accused of taking part in the pictures talking about prisoners who "died" in custody - hardly a source I would trust.
