contributing to evil

if you could make the same amount of money elsewhere, would you be here? let's say the same exact money, except mainstream rather than adult. what would you choose? i'd be out of adult in a second.

your thoughts?

Fletch XXX 05-06-2004 12:50 AM

you CAN make as much.

FONT SITES NIGGA!!!

font sites are wicked... mega pop ups = $ galore

newsdude 05-06-2004 12:52 AM

I might too!

xenigo 05-06-2004 12:53 AM

Yeah if I could make the same money elsewhere, I would do it. I just take too much shit as-is to truely enjoy this business.

xxxdesign-net 05-06-2004 12:55 AM

seems like mainstream might be more stable and secure right now... with visa... bush admistration .. etc,.. otherwise.. dont really care... and girls I meet dont seem to care either...

cherrylula 05-06-2004 01:01 AM

Couture fashion design, but seamstresses don't make very much :)

pure energy 05-06-2004 02:06 AM

As long as it's legal, why not!?

EviLGuY 05-06-2004 02:08 AM

Yeah I would probably be gone too.. it was kinda cool to play the fake internet pimp when I was in my early 20s..

Now that I am in my late 20s.. not so cool.

Jakke PNG 05-06-2004 02:09 AM

Dunno. I'm quite happy now. If I found a 'niche' in mainstream I'd like.. I'd probably do that too. I don't think I'd leave adult.

Johny Traffic 05-06-2004 02:11 AM

I like it here thanks :)

SleazyDream 05-06-2004 02:14 AM

i was in an evil business - insurance - porn isn't evil.

not sure if i'll ever make the $$ in porn as i am currently making in mainstream, but i have the time to do this and enjoy it sofar.

i personally don't feel like i'm contributing "to evil" porn will always be here it just depends on what is shown and how it is presented.
:2 cents:

bufferover 05-06-2004 02:21 AM

Not sure maybe i will be drug dealer :1orglaugh just kidding :winkwink:

I tried making money in mainstream but it's really difficult.

I hired one lady to consult me and she basically said the trick to getting traffic is through meta tags and shit. So youre supposed to make pages, submit them to se's and sit there and wait a few months and cross your fingers.

Unless you own a site that's been around for years, I have no idea how people make money with mainstream sites.
And theres so many "make money from home e-book" scams out there, it's an industry on to itself.
I dont know how people make money on ebay either. They buy wholesale and sell wholesale so their margins must be small. Unless they're selling e-books.

Dawgy 05-06-2004 02:26 AM

id choose mainstream if it wasnt internet or sales related.

boardersweetie 05-06-2004 02:29 AM

I don't care what I do, I just want to be famous

Mainstream probably, far fewer billing hassles and other threats.
The eagerness with which i'd jump also depends on exactly what it was in "mainstream"...
I know a guy who was crazy into cars and started selling old car prints online from the 50's to the 00's at up to $100 a pop, made so much money he quit his day job.
Something like that you were passionate about? man, I wouldn't hesitate, but it all depends there would be a lot of mainstream biz more boring than this.
But then again it's a funny hypothetical in that no one would give up a successful porn biz for mainstream when they can branch out and just have both :)

ADL Colin 05-06-2004 02:31 AM

I don't care.

if you had to hire someone to tell you about metatags I don't doubt the venture wasn't successful, mainstream isn't so unrelated to adult.. not as much as you might think at any rate. don't forget it takes months to start earning income in adult as well.. theres nothing online you start from scratch and are rolling in it a month later... well without a lot of money up front at any rate.

Warden 05-06-2004 07:30 AM

After working in adult for many years I made a transition to mainstream and would never turn back. The money is better, it's more stable AND I can tell my kids where daddy works.

Sarah_Jayne 05-06-2004 08:13 AM

why not do both?
