3 yrs ago I also took the cheap route.

I learned within the first month that I had made a mistkae.

You get what you pay for.

Look for good track record, uptime, support and so on...

Same here. I have seen my old sites go down often with cheap hosts that offer tons of bandwich. Lessons learned.

I went with freehosting and then decent hosting... I was going to go with cheap hosting but I saw a thread like this one a while back too :thumbsup

I did the same thing... decent hosting is just so much better, it isnt that expensive either...

Shit, all hosting is cheap these days, when I started it cost you 2500 a month for a fucking sparc 10 and 6 bucks a gig overage, go for a reliable company, if you go on price alone, youll eventually get fucked

and 70$ domains.

I use Cavecreek (yeah expensive but WELL WELL worth it)

I also use Oxeo (not expensive extremly good service)

But like someone here said, as much as you tell people what to do or avoid noone FUCKIN listens, sometimes I feel like slicing some people up, but I was told I can go to jail for that.

If I give you advice I really have no other motive other then to be honest and helpful, listen to people newbies do yourself a favor, YOU DO NOT KNOW IT ALL OR YOU WOULDNT BE SENDING 6 DOLLARS TO 6 PEOPLE.
