Converting MPEG2 to AVI
Anyone know how to get this done?
I managed to do one file using TMPG to convert to VOB then using the standard ripping from DVD procedures. Now TMPG doesnt want to work with the other files for some fucked up reason. Anyone know how to make this conversion? I need RAW AVI from these MPEG2 files. thx :stoned |
I think that you should try Virtualdub :)
Sorry but my specialty is WMV,ASF so I can't really help that much. |
Of course i tried Virtual Dub, Vdub does not read MPEG2 files.
I also downloaded a modified version of Vdub for mpeg2 files but there is no sound with them. I have tried many many different things, im looking for someone who has succesfully converted MPEG2 to AVI before. |
:hi

with Mpegs i usually use TMPG ... file > output to file > AVI
then use Vdub to do whatever... with the AVI ...hmmm if TMPG is not cooperating... maybe you'll find other solutions at: DVDrhelp |
DVD2avi.. You can find it online.
After that you can avisynth it through vdub if you want to kick out a huffy avi. |

Vdub couldnt load the file, im guessing its becaue they are mpg files that are being read instead of VOB files? a few people say this works but ihave not been able to load the damn file in VDUB for some reason. gonna try what sctiger said but have a feeling that wont work either. :helpme |
Take a few days and learn how to frameserve, because if you don't you're gonna have enormous files.

Just a side note, you don't need to buy any software to do this, it can be easily done with freeware programs.
|
look for mpeg2avi on google.
|
Done this many times - WinMPG is the program you're looking for. It's not freeware but then again it doesn't come with all the nasty spyware either. It's like $30. Let me know how that works for you... :thumbsup

Using free software is a no brainer since most of the best ones are free in my opinion.
Also i think there is a problem with these mpeg2 files, i have managed to convert a few but they seem to be missing the index when loading them in vdub. Another thing is that one of the MPEG2 files cannot be copied or opened anywhere...always getting a cyclical redundancy error. anyway thanks for all the help so far guys :thumbsup |
