Don't be scared of death itself. Be scared of how death will approach you.

time for you to put the computer away and step outside and realize that death is not something to dwell on.. go camping in the mountains and I am sure you mind will have other things to dwell on.. like not dieing(dying?) :thumbsup

bufferover 05-05-2004 11:23 AM

Dude you are still young i don't see reason why to be afraid .

Firehorse 05-05-2004 11:24 AM

It's not death that is frightening, it is not living life! :thumbsup

Phoenix 05-05-2004 11:24 AM

most likely because you now have a child in your life, and you are now concerned about what goes on after you are gone. Not just the now and near future?

not sure though..perhaps you are just nutz

:winkwink:

Haha, this may be the wittiest thing I have seen on GFY in the last year.

Watch, it's probably a line from some movie and I just didn't get it.

start with Kierkegaard. then Nietzsche. followed by Heidegger. might be better to pick up a general book on existentialism, rather than read the names i mentioned straight up, unless you have a Philosophy background.

LauraLee 05-05-2004 11:44 AM

i am not afraid of dying but i am afraid of aging.. how fucked up is that! like most people i have had some VERY close brushes with my # being called.. and strangely i am at peace with it.
however, aging scares the crap outta me :(

You could be 30 or 40 or even 50, but you still would look absolutely fantastic for life LL :)

I think it would help if you think that you are not the only one who thinks that is going to die... I think about that... I could die every morning when I go to buy the newspaper.. or while I'm having a bath... or maybe sb could kill me in the street accidentally..

Nobody lives forever... and sometimes the death is a solution as well.

Don't focus on death. It will only give you creeps and problems. Try to enjoy life!

I began worrying about death when I was in grade four... (hey, I was a weird kid). The reason I began to worry because it suddenly dawned on me what death means if you don't believe in an after-life. (which I don't)

I've found it helps a lot to look back on your life and think about how long it seems to have been so far. Then look at how many years you are likely to have ahead of you, and how damn long those are going to take. Might as well put off worrying until you are much older.

That's the only solution I've been able to work with.. just not thinking about it. And figuring out ways to make sure I am happy today... not tomorrow, not later... NOW. That way, if I do die soon, at least I lived happily.

BlueDesignStudios 05-05-2004 08:29 PM

I used to think about dying all the time, I lived my life in fear & terror,

But now that Sadam is gone, I feel so much safer.

KRL 05-05-2004 08:32 PM

Look at it this way. You won't be alone. Everyone living on earth right now will be dead by the year 3,000 or just about dead.

So you'll have 6 Billion people to keep you company. Assuming of course you get into the air conditioned place and not the warm one down below.

Ian 05-05-2004 09:06 PM

"It's not death that is frightening, it is not living life!"

Absolutely, and we should all make time to get off the computer and live life a bit more.

Everybody will die sooner or later. You don't even have to think of it.
