Yes we know there are ways to go around any type of security but remember not everyone is as smart as you.

So here is the question, whats the best way to secure your content so only members can view it


DRM for WMV, em.bed other formats

em.bed the movies in a page in your members area

DRM (wmv) only fuck all other formats

more people here should fuckin answer, i know its no pic of spears but please take a sec think and vote now

People are going download and steal your content. Deal with it, newb!

hahahahahaing it in a page does nothing as far as security of course,
so bascially you've given two choices -
Microsoft's incompatible version of mpeg with their proprietary
DRM, nothing, or a combination of those two.

Myself, I secure all content with Strongbox.

DRM for WMV but preferably for mpg if at all possible.
I really need to look into this myself, time is always an issue :(

Have you implemented any DRM on your sites yet?
Curious to hear if users complained or if compatibility and playibility is at all effected

DRM is not a costly solution at all.. it just requires some time to go thru all your movies and encrypt them.

I would give it a shot, its worth trying.

I think if you will forbid customers to copy the videos, they will cancel the mebership pretty fast. Why should an adult dvd which you can lease at the blockbuster shop without any copy pretecting stuff and the little videos you have on the site are all protected?
If you are talking regarding access rights, well use a streaming server all your problems are gone, even some other and new ones will appear :)

Ray (from the post above yours) charges $65 installed for his software (with discounts for multiple sites). It does work and it doesn't suffer any incompatibilities. That is surely a cheaper and better solution than encrypting movies?

And StrongBox allows movies to be downloaded by members: just not by surfers who haven't paid.

We need more business threads on the first page.
