Michael Moore the director of 'Bowling for Columbine' which he won a fucking Oscar for is battling because Disney won't allow it's Miramax division to distribute Moore's new movie " Farehnheit 911" because it is politically explosive as it focuses on Bin Laden and Bush and Disney might loose tax breaks???

I still remember a few years ago he went to "the neighbours" of a medical company that was convicted for manufacturing instruments that were unreliable. People simply died because of bad implants, and they denied everything.

Disney, as a business, has the right to distribute the movies it sees fit.
Major studios drop releases all the time.

As much as I hate Disney and truly believe they are what's wrong with not only movies today, but a lot of television, I would support their right to run their business as they see fit.

Believe me, Moore won't have any problems picking up a distribution deal from someone else. His last movie made a lot of money and was very profitable. That profit means someone will take a chance.

Lion's Gate has certainly grown a huge set of balls and they could very well pick up the rights.

I remember Michael Moore telling Oreilly he is in favor of 80% of anyones income going to taxes. It sounds like a joke, but he was dead serious. After that, I kinda see him as a Bruce Valanche looka like with less intelligence.

A better question is why is it always the same?

In the case of the "Mel Gibson" film, he produced it independently with his own money. Gibson owns the whole thing, no partners. So when majors refused to handle the so-called " anti-semite" film, he was able to shop it around, ending up with an independent distribution outfit called " NewMarket" ( they also had the hit with the best actress winner... forgot the title).

In the case of Moore, this film was produced by MIRAMAX, with money from Miramax. Moore has no saying in distribution. I doubt that Miramax will give the film to another distribution outfit, since this would be defeating the whole process of shelving it to please the neo-cons.
