I got a commodore 64 waaay back in the day for bringing home an exceptional report card.

Those are only TECHNICALLY a computer though. The next one I bought for myself. :)

They didn't. I built my own first computer with my own money. :)

I think they bought me a C-64 so I could be cool like all my friends.

TRS80 so I could learn BASIC. I wrote a text-based NFL game based on a football board game at the time.

I bought my kids their first computer so that they could make movies with the "Lego Steven Spielberg MovieMaker" set.

They bought me my TI-99 so I could be all smart 'n stuff. It would have worked if Atari didn't come out not long after it.

My first one was a C=64 (can't even remember when i got it, it was xmas for sure). It broke down like every month and repairing it was the same cost as the whole set.. But I loved it =)
