I left after the Northridge 6.8 in 1994.

I'll stick to Hurricanes over Quakes any day.

not going anywhere....its on your forehead when you will die!

I would move out of LA sooner because of the damn traffic and smog , before worrying about 10.5 quake

Are you positive about that? I think that it is possible. But we'll see, I still have a good 60 yrs in my lifetime. They say around like 2020 it'll happen or sometime around that!

"Earthquake prediction is called the Holy Grail of earthquake science, and has been considered impossible by many scientists," said Keilis-Borok, 82.
Big deal. So they can predict it, not much you can do about it. It isn't like boarding up hahahahahahas, or crawling into a storm cellar will do any good

what makes it more interesting
is

"It is not specific," said Susan Hough, a seismologist for the US Geological Survey based in Pasadena, near Los Angeles. "They've made three predictions and two of them have been borne out."

but 2 out of 3 predictions still isnt bad...

I used to live in San Francisico, and I warned everyone the big one was coming. I stocked up water and supplies and everyone laughed at me.

And when the big one came - the 7.0 - and our power and phones were down for 72 hours it was me who had the last laugh.

I'll never forget the day when it hit; The fucking parking lot looking like the ocean.... two foot waves and all!

What makes you think an earthquake will drive prices of homes down?

A house split in 2 or rolling down a hill is way cheaper than one you can live in. :)

maybe where you live, but not here. You do not pay for the house usually, you pay for the property.

It is not unusual for someone to pay top dollar for a home and the next day after closing see a bulldozer tear it down so they can build a new home there

Missy 05-04-2004 10:56 AM

I missed it! That was one I really wanted to watch too. :(

Jer 05-04-2004 10:59 AM
