The worst part of the surgery is sound of shattering bone as they drill, pull, snap, and hammer your teeth out.

You don't feel anything but pressure on your jaw though. Your teeth won't hurt that much. What will hurt is your jaw. It'll feel like you got punched a bunch of times.

But you'll be ok in about 4-6 days :thumbsup

reynold 05-02-2004 11:12 PM

Its the waiting that sucks. You'll feel better a day or two after.

LiveDose 05-02-2004 11:14 PM

I've been putting this off for years. Gonna get it done this year finally as well.

Hope it helps with my migraines...:helpme

good luck with the surgery

Internet God 05-02-2004 11:17 PM

When I had mine pulled (all 4 at once) they put me under...knocked me out.

I didn't feel a damn thing.

When I woke up...I was high as a kite.

I LOVED it.

I would NOT get a tooth pulled unless you can afford the extra $200+ to get put under.

Just hang on, it'll not last forever you know. You'll
feel better once it's over.

thankfully they're not fully impacted. so they should come out relatively easily and the doc said with minimal swelling.

neewwman 05-02-2004 11:28 PM

I had all 4 of mine taken out at once.

They used "Twilight Sleep," where you're not really asleep, just sort of zoinked out.

I was aware of pain but somehow I was disconnected from it and it wasn't too bad.

Also, my sense of time got all screwed up. When they finished I thought they'd only just pulled the first tooth.

As far as I remember there was no serious pain afterward.

EviLGuY 05-02-2004 11:37 PM

I have had 3 of 4 out so far.. its a bitch. I know you don't want to hear that.. but..

Good luck!

KRL 05-02-2004 11:38 PM

It takes about 2 days for the pain to stop.

The worst is when the anestisia first wears off. Fuck I can still feel that pain from 20 years ago.

Babagirls 05-02-2004 11:39 PM

thank god i never needed mine pulled , best wishes hun :(

michel 05-03-2004 12:01 AM

Mine aren't even "through" yet, I can't see or feel them, is this normal for a 32 yo guy?

kmanrox 05-03-2004 12:04 AM

i just got back from the dentist literally 10 minutes ago... they gotta yank a molar, and then the week after they gonna yank my last 3 wisdomz.... i HATE pain... i hATE dentistry..... grrrrrrrrrrr

Firehorse 05-03-2004 12:10 AM

It's better to go thru it and get them out than to leave them in and suffer future pain. At least it will be over soon. :thumbsup

hottoddy 05-03-2004 12:26 AM

I had 4 impacted ones cracked out at one time, plus a frenectomy . It sucked big time. I was extremely sore for about a week and looked like a chipmunk. Everyone's experience varies though. Some just pop right out. I've known people to eat regular food a few hours later. Good luck. No matter what, you'll be glad you got it done in the future.

Goose 05-03-2004 12:29 AM

or just try to get rid of them by doing it yourself. You'll save the money and trouble with the dentist ;)
Good luck

Shortbread 05-03-2004 12:32 AM

Don't fret my pet, it's not that bad, it will be over before you know it.

newsdude 05-03-2004 12:35 AM

You'll be ok, don't worry!

Ash@phpFX 05-03-2004 12:55 AM

had mine out when i was 13, wasnt too bad

Internet God 05-03-2004 01:11 AM

Man, I feel for some of you.

I hate pain...

They shot some white stuff in my veins...and I was out COLD.

I didn't feel a thing...even after.

Maybe it's something new?

Mr. Marks 05-03-2004 02:40 AM

dude, you're in a bad shape:(

$5 submissions 05-03-2004 04:03 AM

I wish you the best. I'm thinking of getting mine taken out soon.

GonePhishing 05-03-2004 04:08 AM

Mine sucked, but it was because they were impacted and two were impacted and errupted. Of course, because I had buttshit college insurance and no money, I had to get the cheap bastard route. No nitrous, no going under... Just lytocaine. The sound of them cracking my teeth, and the smell of burning enamel was really nasty. Seeing shatterd bits of teeth and blood was not much fun either.

Because they were already errupted they also left very wide and deep holes in my mouth. I was so freaked out when I opened my mouth and saw holes that just wide open. Man, it didn't hurt that much, it was just more visualy fucked up.

Tania 05-03-2004 04:09 AM

you wil bi ok (god luck) :thumbsup
