Hosting / Nameserver Question

Does anyone know how i would set up something like this..

ns1.mydomain.com
ns2.mydomain.com

Instead of having to use my hosts nameservers?

your host can setup that up for you .

If I'm interpreting what you're asking correctly, you:

o Install BIND or TinyDNS
o Create authoritative records for your domains
o Tell whoever your registrar is that you want to hand over resolution authority to the new server you set up.

The easiest way for ANYONE to do it is get the IP addy's of the primary and secondary dns of your host then go to your registrar and and create ns1 & ns2.yourdomain.xxx and when it asks for the IP of your dns servers, put in your host's primary & secondary dns's IP addy's. This works for anyone who wants to have their own dns info instead of your hosts.

mosts hosts can set u up with this.. and its as simple as going into your domain settings with your registrar and create a nameserver once u have the info from ur host
