Hitchhiking - What Happened To It?
 

A couple weeks ago I read some article online i think at MSN about the disappearance of hitchhiking - I hadn't really thought about it but since I read the article I realize it's correct.

How many of you people are 35 plus? I'm 40 - from the age of 12 to 16 until I got my license and even after when I couldn't have the car I hitchiked everywhere - all kids did - short trips, long trips.
When did it stop? Why? Must be overprotective parents - cuz even back in my day parents weren't that crazy with it but for boys it was a fact of life.

Hitchhiking was cool - u got to meet some really nice people, some weird people and some scary people. And occassionally a hot older chick would pick you up

I hitchhike all the time. it's fun.:)

Haven't hitchiked in a long time...but my best friend from high school Tim and another one of his buddies Steve have travelled all over this country hitchikiing.

Ass, Cash or Grass, no ones rides for free :winkwink:

LOL no..but one time Tim was telling me this big huge black guy kept telling him he wanted him to fuck his wife while he watched and Tim just kep telling himi..."no thank you."

I used to hitchike in High School. My friend would sit in the backseat, she was a punker with rainbow colored hair, very thick white chick, and she had a knife with her. We only did this if we missed the bus to go to PB which was often, she was like my bodyguard. LOL

It used to be a normal thing to do... but today you just can't trust people anymore:(

media, schools, parents brainwashing children that talking to anyone you DON'T know is practically a sin let alone getting into a car with someone you dont know.

many more bus routes and subways. you can get almost anywhere at any time.

Hot young blonde chicks are getting tired of being picked up and have no idea why rednecks are trying to rape them.

So many accidents happening to hitchhikers.

I would never pickup a hitchhiker. Of course there are exceptions to that rule.

I missed the hitchhiking thing by a few years..

I didn't do too much hitchhiking but I had lots of friends who would travel across the country this way, nowadays the world is basically fucked with too many weirdos, rapists, murderers, etc. Sad really.. but that's what you get when you have a spiritually deficient nation, and I don't mean going to church, but rather the church itself is the biggest culprit..the sheep are all confused and scared as fuck, turns out the sheperd is slaughtering them one at a time..surprise, surprise..

These days the trust is just not there, I dont think any driver will be willing to let someone in the car with all of the negitive shit in the media....people constnatly get killed, robbed or injured from incidents like this.

Nothing is free in todays world, you pay the price one way or the other.
