I have always admired Buffett and have followed some of his investing wisdom (though not all, as evidenced by my dismal track record!).

18 years ago, I called Berkshire Hathaway's corporate offices to request an annual report for my freshman college project. Some old sounding guy politely answered the phone and took my name and address. We made some small talk. At the end of the conversation, I asked the gentleman's name. He said, "Warren. I run the place."

good stuff, I respect people with success that are down to earth and humble, people who are over the top and flashy in your face is just a huge turnoff.

He thinks differently than we do. He told his kids as they were growing up they would have to earn everything they got. Too much money in hands that didn't earn it isn't a good thing, he feels.

His wife got bored with him 20 or 30 years ago, and wanted to see the world. So she hooked him up with this hot chick to live in the house, and take care of his needs. He still lives with the chick, and meets up with his wife at various times throughout the year in NY and Paris.

His only real frill is his jet. He loves it, and has made plans to be buried in it.

I was down at Solid Gold in Ft. Lauderdale tonight. Had a meeting with one of the owners.

One of the VIP regulars comes in with an enterage and sits at the table next to us . So Mike starts telling me this old guy is one of the 10 wealthiest men in Florida. Has a 200 Feadship ft. yacht, over a billion net worth, houses all over the world, blah, blah, blah, etc.

Then he says the only thing is he has an degenerative eye disease, lost his vision and was now blind.

So I said if he's blind what the heck is he doing in a strip club. And Mike goes I asked him that question one night and he said "Well I can't see the girl's tits any more, but I sure get to feel 'em nice now."
