A more interesting question is, why do men have nipples?

And you couldn't just get away with one fingernail either. You need the thumbnail to get the top. The pointer and index for the shallow dig. The ring fingernail for gay dudes so they can hold up teh pinky and then the pinky for the deep gouging brain tug. Makes perfect sense to me.

men don't need nipples.. (breast-feeding, etc) but they have them.. there's alot of things humans have but don't need.

hands are what we use most.. fingers are most prominent.. for protection? -- i guess similar to any animal that has claws?

I'd imagine when we were all apes way back when the finger nails were claws. Through eons of evolution we no longer needed them as much and they mutated to what they are today.

sometimes when I have a cold, or when my allergies are really going and my nose is running like crazy, I like to shove my pinky into my nose up to the 2nd knuckle.... I guess it's kinda like fisting.

Oh man, I remember seeing that guy on the TV show they had awhile ago. Apparantly his hand is permanantly deformed now because of that, and he has to wake up like every 2 hours to change his position so he doesn't break a nail. Crazy.

Aside from scratching, picking nose is next on the list!

Because nature is generally very efficient. Males and females share the same basic template, hormones just form what happens to them.
For instance a penis is very similiar to a vagina in everything but shape, they form from a central efficient design, thats why when a woman takes testosterone her clit gets bigger like a little dick.

Kind of the same thing with nipples, they're not something that is to our detriment so it's better to both have them than have a an additional extra function to create them only in women... they're just leftovers from the "template"
