Working out in the AM?

I been getting up at 6am in the past couple of days and working out & doing cardio. I been experimenting for years with the proper methods and have come to the conclusion that early to rise and early to bed is the most successful journey. When I get to work I am balls to the walls till about 3... Then the bear jumps on my back! Then I take a break from work for a nap and come back strong for the second half! Does anyone have any good tips on how to get more energy in the late afternoon?s cuss that is the down side to working out in the AM?

:winkwink:

Yes putting your "balls to the wall" is a good idea!

Excercising in the am before breakfast is the absolute best way to lose fat and burn calories. You will feel alot better after you start to lose the excess weight, and feel almost envigorated after your workouts.

I find the best way to re-energize for the afternoon lul as you put it is to drink some coffee, or even an iced coffee. If your on a sugar kick, and not eating sweet, i suggest using Splenda or Sweet N Low in yer coffee for no extra calories.

If your not a coffee person, I suggest some type of protein bar perhaps by Muscle-Tech (Meso Tech or Nitro Tech bars) they wake my ass up in the afternoon...as I think im getting a chocolate treat, but in reality, its 25g of protein that tastes like a Reeses bar.

I just started doing the same thing, and like you, I'm getting really sleepy in the early to mid afternoon. Try green tea or have an All In One bar from dexatrim. The caffeine keeps me awake.

I have also started drinking Crystal Light with green tea in it. YUM, and it counts as part of your water intake for the day. :thumbsup

they say that 15 to 20 minute naps are more refreshing and leave you more alert than long naps . I say make sure you have enough CARBS in your AM/afternoon diet. When I go hiking for days at a time, I always feel most refreshed after I have eaten some "balance" bars :2 cents:

I've tried working out in the morning and it made me drag ass all day. Drinking 180 helped a little bit, but not much. I do my cardio at lunch time and by the time I get home for work--I'm ready to hit the gym and push myself a lot harder than I ever would in the mornings.:2 cents:

The only problem I have with the afternoons is I make up excuses with reasons I can't make it to the gym. I do it in the AM and there is no excuses!!!!
