so, my uncle hit me up and he wants to start a multi level marketing thing.. wtf?

he seems to know what he's doing, just needs some help with the technical part of it.

does multilevel marketing really work if you're selling the right product and have a big network of people to kick it off with?

i suppose if you can sell, anything is possible.

NiTe-HaWk 04-29-2004 05:32 AM

lol tried those before I found porn sites

They try to get you to sell phone service, cleaning supplies, house hold items, internet service, membership to travel didscount clubs, electronic discount memberships, etc. I have not seen one work unless you are at the very top or want to put alot of work into it. Also you really need to be a salesman to do good at it.

TheMob 04-29-2004 05:32 AM

so i guess that means it does? just wondering wether I want to get paid in cold cash or a percentage..

he is a salesman and seems to have the right product, something totally new.. anyone run any multi-level marketing operations successfully (from the top)?

In my opinion they don't work... To allow multiple "levels" they have to raise prices... with higher than the competition prices it's kinda tough to sell the products...

... but if you know a lot of people, and can sell this stuff, you could probably make some extra money with it....

Only if your emphasis is on recruiting more sellers or selling a "get started package" and not actual products.

My parents are Amway/Quixtar millionaires. They've been doing it for almost 30 years now. I actually have my own small "business" that was given to my as an 18th Birthday present. The only thing I've EVER done is cut them a check each year to renew my business. My downline has always keep me up and running.

From what I have seen, it works. But it's not a get rich quick plan. Like I said...my parents have been doing it for 30 years.

It only works for the initial investors who set it up.

An old friend of my father's did this for a living for many years.

Anytime a new MLM would come around he'd go out and by a "franchise." Basically that would lock an area in that only he could work...that area could be a city or entire state and he would get a cut for everybody that signed up in that area.

He would be the guy that would book all those hotel rooms put ads in the papers and give those rousing speeches.

The way they make their money is by the fact that if you want to sell their product you yourself have to buy 1. And then he hopes you go out and get up to 10 people to do the same thing.

They coudl really care less if you actually build up a customer list...because he gets for example 1,000 people to start selling and they have to buy the product he sees $10.00 of that and right away he's already made $10K. Each person goes out and talks 10 people into becoming "sales people" as well and then he now has $100K.

He would only work each MLM for a couple of months 6 top because eventually it allways falls apart or the interest level drops...he would have a number of these going all the time.

Anyway...after spending some time with this guy and what he told me I wouldn't touch any MLM's with a 10 foot pole unless I was that initial investor.

promote sponsors for 50/50 revshare or start your own and let others work for you, or better yet keep all your sales. $30 a month x 3000 members :Graucho

Thanks, Eros.

If I decide to do it I'll be at the top, hehe :)
