AVN Frighteningly Incompetent
 

Let's forget about AVN's sloppy reporting that had mainstream news organizations throughout the world foolish enough to trust AVN.com as a news source reporting that another poor porn starlet named Dynasty had tested positive for HIV erroneously. Of course AVN admitted no culpability in reporting false statements of fact, they allowed only that it was poor sentence structure that led readers and journalists the world over to conclude poor Dynasty had contracted HIV. Whateverrrrrrrrrrrrrrr............

Tonight I was discussing the HIV outbreak with my guy Brian and he's being optimistic and thinks things might work out ok, I'm the opposite. He points out to me a story from a week ago, April 20th, reported on AVN.com that 4 porn girls had tested negative 30 days after their contact with Darren James and were cleared. Well I remember that story and the names of those girls and remember at the time thinking to myself that something didn't add up but I was busy with something else and forgot about it. But tonight my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to go look at that story again.

Here's the story from AVN.com, April 20th, reporting on the testing of 4 girls on the first generation risk list who had worked with Darren James.

"30 days or more have passed since Skyler Banks, Persia, Jocelyn, or Annie Cruz worked with James. Today's results were each of the women's first HIV test since being quarantined last Tuesday."

The good news from this testing according to AVN.com is that all four of these girls had tested negative THIRTY days after working with Darrin James, that is the first hurdle, a negative test after 30 days is 75% accurate in that the person will not develop HIV, for a person to be 99% cleared another 30 days must pass - hence the 60 day quarantine advised/ordered by AIM and the shutdown of the porn industry until June, 8th.


I went back to AIM's Quarantine page http://www.aim-med.org/Quarantine.html and looked for the 4 girls whom AVN reported on April 20th as having worked with Darren James 30 days or longer before that date. The names of the 4 girls again are Skylar Banks, Persia, Jocelyn and Annie Cruz. 30 days prior to 4/19 is what? 3/19. Simple math no? For you and me it is but let's look at the dates for these girls as listed on AIM's website for when these girls worked with Darren James last.

Girl #1: Skylar Banks 04-08-04

30 days or longer AVN? Try 12 days! You were only off by 18 days, good try!

Girl #2:Annie Cruz 03-24-04

Jessica Dee was just tested three days ago as she should have been 30 days or longer since her contact with Darren James, Annie and Jessica share one thing neither wishes they had in common, both worked with Dick O' Death II on the same exact day, 3/24.
But according to AVN, 9 days ago on the 20th, Annie Cruz was 30 days or longer distanced from her contact with James and had passed the first hurdle. Wrong again AVN. Meanwhile Jessica has yet to clear the first hurdle that AVN reported that Annie cleared 9 days ago.

The AVN story was three short paragraphs long, the facts were right there on AIM's Quarantine page yet these morons get 2 out of 4 facts wrong. Important facts.

You couldn't find a high school newspaper in America that would do a worse job of covering this story.

Mutt, do you think AIM has all the names of the second generation workers? I bet there are still people who haven't made the list that should be on it.

not a chance AIM has a complete list of 2nd generation contacts - they have even admitted that was a job they weren't prepared for. But to be fair to them, there are so many small producers out there now shooting amateur and Internet stuff tracking down everything and everybody is almost impossible.

And if anybody from any of the second generation lists tests positive think of all the other people out there right now who are third generation right now and under no quarantine who may have been working since this broke.

It took AIM almost two weeks to realize that the man Darren James tag teamed Laura Roxx with, Mark Anthonym, was also in direct contact with James. I posted this question on another board 3 days earlier, nobody seemed interested - maybe AIM read my post. The damage was that for longer than a week people that should have been on a second generation quarantine list were not and it's no secret that shooting has been going on.

They've always been shitty as are most of the people in this biz.

Give me an estimate on what you think the current infections numbers are for this outbreak. As of right now, what is your guess?

I have no clue Buff really what the current number of infections are other than the 2 confirmed. My guess from the start was always 4-6 of the girls who worked with James would ultimately test postive based on nothing but a hunch. Since HIV is much more likely to be spread from male to female, with luck it's possible that's where the outbreak would be contained since all but one of the first generation is female. I'm not even sure at which point in the development of the virus is is most contagious, so i can't even speculate whether the girls who worked with him earlier are at less risk than the girls who worked with him closer to the date his HIV was picked up on a test.

Mikey, AIM says the tests they use, PCRDNA and the RNA test, will catch 75% of HIV cases 30 days after contact with an infected person and at 60 days 99%.

Wasn't there a GFY post about another girl testing positive yesterday that was quickly edited and then locked?

For awhile people were beginning to think maybe the girl from Montreal could have been Patient Zero but AIM says no way the RNA viral load test indicates it was Darren James in the Conservatory with the lead pipe.
