Links from Non-Relevant Sites Have BIG impact
 

I recently did an experiment with a site I have that has a pr of 5. This site has nothing to do with porn but I figured what the hell, Ill link it to my tgp. After a while I checked where I was ranking with google. Come to find out I was ranking around 50th (with a pr of 4)... Not Great but not bad for not really trying.

After reading around about how links from non-relevant sites dont help I decided to pull the link. The Result was a drop from 50th to 596th !

My Conclusion: Links Count no Matter where they are from.

actually the real nice thing was how I got the other site to a pr5 without asking anyone to link to me :Graucho

incomming links are good no matter where they're comming from :thumbsup

I had microsoft.com linking to my site a while back... I bought a dedicated server that used to be a pda help page. That was a nice PR boost for sure.

All the SEO guys talk about "bad neighborhoods" and "non relevent" links actually penalizing you, so I am not so sure if this one example can be generalized.
