Fucking dangerous Ski Resort
RENO, Nevada (AP) -- The U.S. military is demanding the return of five howitzers that two Sierra Nevada ski resorts use to prevent avalanches, saying it needs the guns for the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Alpine Meadows and Mammoth Mountain received the artillery pieces on loan from the Army and began using them last year to fire rounds into mountainsides and knock snow loose. But the ski resorts received word earlier this month that the Army's Tank Automotive and Armaments Command at the Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois needs the howitzers back. :ak47: :ak47: :ak47: Take that you avalanches! |
Better question is why they're re-hiring scrapped equipment and scouring for armored humvees across the world...guess the bowls of ski resorts out west won't be so safe next season :-( But hey I ski trees in the east, no howitzer needed. (And *all* western resorts use explosives of some kind to do avalanche control, it's necessary out there)

You would think with all of our technology we wouldn't need them anymore. But hey if we can train some iraqis to fight for there own freedom it might be worth it. It can't be that hard to fire a howitzer..... :BangBang:
