I am a die-hard Metal and Hardcore Rap fan, but I actually love the new album, Much respect.

I loved his old school stuff and even more recent albums, but he really fell off there with the "artist formerly known as ..." shit. IMHO.

Funny true story from a friend of mine: Prince was in town on tour and my friend saw him getting out of a Limo downtown about half a block away - there was a crowd around him and the entourage and all that...

(Keep in mind: Prince is a short man.)


So this guy yells out at the top of his voice: "HEY, IS THAT GARY COLEMAN?!" The whole crew turned around and looked at him and Prince made eye contact with him and just shook his head.

I have a few friends who saw him in concert recently and they loved his new stuff!

I live in the Minneapolis area where prince is from/lives. Some of you may know he owns a club, first avenue, where newer bands come and play. Anyways, I was there about a year ago listening to some local band, I forget their name, and sure enough guess who I see. The owner himself :thumbsup. I got to talk to him for about 2 mins and got his autograph and stuff. I used to have his signature scanned but I think I deleted it. He's a pretty cool guy.

I think he was trying to get out his contact and couldn,t perform under the title 'prince"

Musicology is a great track. Got a James Brown/Motown feel fo' sho.

Really!?!? That makes sense, but I'd never heard that before.

Its like when BadBrains comes to DC - the band has been BANNED from playing in DC and they broke up and reformed so often that now they tour as SoulBrains....

He doesn't own the First Avenue... he used to own the Glam Slam Club but i don't know if it's still opened...

I'm more a punk/metalhead as well, but I dig the Prince. I've got every Prince release back to For You, including a couple bootlegs. Even the instrumental release a few months ago (NEWS - which was pretty damn impressive). Stuck with him through the TAFKAP contract dispute days, read one of his bio book, the whole nine yards...

I've listened to Musicology a few times now -- really can't get much past the first 2 tracks without getting bored. It's not that it's not good... but it's just very average for Prince. With all the hype, I was hoping for the next Sign o' the Times or Black Album. Doesn't get close. Just getting a BIG ASS marketing push from Columbia, as they're trying to gravy train off his old popularity from the Warner Bros days. Props to them for giving the push that they are - just a shame it's all for such an average product. :2 cents:

Prince has so much talent. I love his older stuff. I will have to buy Musicology and listen to it fully. :)

Prince is a fucking genius. Very underrated guitarist as well.

yeah, most of the time, well all the time the label OWN your name...snoop doggy dogg, now it's snoop dogg becasue suge own snoop doggy dogg...you didn't hear about that prince thing, he even wrote slave on his cheek( face cheek,:Graucho ) becasue they was trying to fuck him on his record deal

now that bit is very true. Go back and listen to the earlier stuff and he does some fantastic playing.
