DESIGNERS: Looking for non-adult stock photography
What's a great place for cheap/free stock photography? I've seen some crappy free stuff searching on Google, but nothing worth using.
Any suggestions? I'm looking for businessy/officey type stuff. |

corbis might be a little cheaper..make sure you search for royal free images...you can mostly pick them up for $50 a piece |
My friend works for www.imagegrabber.com, pretty cool site, you can search a ton of agencies at the same time.

Thanks for all your suggestions!
Anyone else? AlienQ, I actually have a very specific image in mind: two businessy-looking types in suits are sitting at one end of a table in a boardroom. There's a projected image of a rising graph on the other side of the boardroom. One of the suits is standing and pointing at the graph while looking at the other suit who is seated, looking at the graph. The camera shoots the pic from behind -- maybe "at a 3/4 perspective;" I don't know the lingo ;) -- where the people are on the left in the foreground and the chart is on the right in the background. Very specific, I know. I figured I'd find something close enough to that, but if you are interested in taking a few shots, hit me up, ICQ in the sig. |
Okay so Getty is WAY TOO FUCKING EXPENSIVE for my broke ass...

http://www.sxc.hu/ kicks ass for a lot of lower-budget purposes. Sort of open-source photography started specifically because people were pissed at paying recockulous fees for commercial photos.
About 70% of the images are flat-out free/no restrictions whatsoever. Remaining 30% are still free for personal use but have to contact photographer for commercial purposes. Photographer might ask for cash, or just want to know what it's for first, or whatever. You have to click on the thumb to get to the midsize pic, at that point you'll see the license restrictions at the bottom. You have to register (free) to download the full-size versions. Unfortunately the photo you described isn't likely to be found on the site. The emphasis on the site is generally more objects than people, and nearly all shots of people are the commercially-restricted ones (no one wants to end up on the side of a porn DVD box). Worth a shot though. Can't beat "free". |
