Spain completes its Military pull out.

Who thinks that's WEAK? Or are they showing they have balls standing up to the US?

doober 04-27-2004 10:09 AM

It would have showed they had balls if they had never went in in the first place.

BabeHunter 04-27-2004 10:20 AM

There's a huuuuuuge difference between being weak and doing what the people of your country wants you to do.
This is called democracy, just in case you don't know.

the oppostion won because "osama's organization" wanted them to win

the terorr attack is the reason for the goverment change
the oppostion had a really small % before the attack

the ppl of spain got scared and changd the goverment
that's all

So this is how you understood it?
First of all, people didn't get scared for a terrorist attack. It's sad but Spaniards are used to terrorist attacks, already, they always terrorist organizations.

The government changed for many reasons.
One of them wasn't the attack itself but the fact that the previous government tried to hide from the beginning that it was an islamic attack and not ETA.

There're many more reasons for this change. If you've been following Spanish internal affairs lately you surely know them.

yeah...the fact that they hide the fact that it wasn't the ETA had an effect

but if there wasn't an attack , then the goverment would have stayed the same...you must agree on it

the fact is that the Islamic terorrists got what they wanted.

cosis 04-27-2004 10:41 AM

You know? I'm not even that sure it wouldn't have changed.
Zapatero did a smart move telling in advance that he wouldn't have made any deal with smaller parties to have the majority so many people voted him because they didn't want Aznar to be in the power anymore.

There have been serious problems lately, included the terrorist attack, of course, that made in a short time people change their mind.

The only think I can tell you is that, whether you're in favor or not of pulling out the troops, the fact that the government actually makes what people who voted him asked to do is a great thing.

Not good timing, but one of the reasons the govt was elected was in order to pull out the soldiers from Iraq. USA is "trapped" there, I don't see them going anywhere for the next 2-3 years. Time will tell. Expect more soldiers to go there.
