Do you check your bank statements?

I never really do, but I just so happened to check my most recent one and I see a charge for $29.95 for some shit in VA. I call up the number that was listed under the name and it turned out to be an Entertainment Weekly magazine subscription that was ordered out of VA(Virgina)! WTF I didnt order that shit. I just called my bank and they told me to call entertainment weekly up and if they dont refund me my money I have to stop by the bank and fill out some forms and Ill get my money back that way.

:feels-hot
I'm going to start checking it everytime now, I've learned my lesson. I might as well get a new card as well since it seems someone has my card #.:BangBang:

i've now been on hold with entertainment weekly for about 15 minutes and counting.

Don't you have online banking? I can look up my account any time I want and see every transaction.

TheHitman 04-26-2004 01:09 PM

I'm so lazy, I never check them. I really should start.

escsweb 04-26-2004 01:11 PM

damn dude 30 bucks? hope your kids eat this week

bdld 04-26-2004 01:16 PM

i study mine religiously.

Peaches 04-26-2004 01:16 PM

I check my credit card, bank and utility statements as soon as I get them - around 30+ a month. It's amazing the stuff they try to sneak in there as well as the things that show up because of an "error".

dude stfu, its more about me being charged for something that I dont want and didnt subscribe to in the first place.

Ok I just got off the phone with EW and they are going to refund me my money within 30 to 60 days. I dont know what happened or why I was billed for it. but it seems that a few numbers got mixed up and switched around on a credit card and I ended up being billed for it. all is good now.

haha the guy at EW was trying to get me to subscribe with an 80% discount after everything was settled because they were sorry about the mix up. fuck that!

rowan 04-26-2004 02:01 PM

Shit, that just reminded me that I have a tax installment due tomorrow... it's gonna be fun for the next few hours while I sift through everything. :(

I also have land settling tomorrow so my account is going to be totally cleaned out by COB. Damnit.

(In answer to the Q, I do check bank statements over quickly, and CC statements more carefully...)

smack 04-26-2004 03:12 PM

gotta be careful now a days. check everything.

stev0 04-26-2004 03:14 PM

haha, carders are stupid... especially if they're ordering magazine subscriptions. As if that's hard to trace, haha

My ex girlfriend got me into the habit of checking my statements, but I never really got hooked on writing EVERY transaction down and keeping every receipt like she did. That girl was fucking ORGANIZED. Wish I had the motivation to do all the shit she did.
Just goes to show that sometimes you do need women for something other than sex.

Your sig is way too small. Perhaps a full page ad would better suit your needs?

If I put both companies side by side, it would probably be the same size as yours.....sig, that is. :winkwink:

It's actually a chicklet smaller than it was - when Lensman tells me it's too big - my sig, that is.... - I'll make it smaller - I promise :)

herbal logic 04-26-2004 04:59 PM

insanesurfer 04-26-2004 05:00 PM

Once a month. Had a friend who got burnt by not before

Viper2K1 04-26-2004 05:00 PM

i check mine online all the time

I just got a new card 2 months ago, well the number is the same but the cvv number changed, maybe that's enough

i once get scammed for like $200, called them and they weren't keen on refunding me money, i had to talk to the seller to work things out (yeah right) or send them all copies of my emails with that person etc

way too much trouble

and here i read people just call and they get their money back ... guess it's a bit different where i live :(

Everytime I log-in to my internet banking I look at the statements........sometimes I see strange charges that I have to look up

Ironhorse 04-26-2004 05:02 PM

I use MS money for all my accounts, it's the first thing I do in the morning make sure my accounts are balanced, nothing gets by me, I know where every single penny goes, almost every day. Actually most of the time I know when my bills are coming up and it gives me an look at my future finances based on regular transactions and that sort of thing.

zzgundamnzz 04-26-2004 05:03 PM

Are sure someone didn't get your CC #? How can Entertainment Weekly mix up credit card numbers?

Kalifornia 04-26-2004 05:05 PM

I check all day long

StRoGE 04-26-2004 05:13 PM

I should give MS money a try.
